My review is quite neutral and I would like to make it useful and weigh it equally.
It must be said that in the past Spartan was a good plugin and probably with the updates and new versions of minecraft some mechanics have changed and for this reason the plugin no longer works correctly.
In my experience I had to disable some controls by the plugin because they prevented players from many interactions/movements.
Spartan has many of the right cards to be a valid plugin, but at the moment it needs to be revised from top to bottom to optimize all its checks within the game

Ive been using Spartan AntiCheat for a while now, and its honestly one of the best anti cheats out there. It catchs cheaters very quickly and doesnt cause lag on my server. The config is easy to use, and it has so many featres to customize. Also, the dev is very helpful and quick to respond to any questions or problms. If ur looking for a good anticheat, this is the one to get! It looks like it will keep getting updates and dev will help with anything on disc!

Don't waste your money. Full of false positives. Always was. It also requires you to buy a monthly subscription. Which doesn't make it any better.

No one can join my server when I add it to my plugins. I am using a supported version. Discord support is rude. Not to mention they limit the amount of players it can monitor unless you pay way more money. Many better options are available

Bought this plugin last week and it’s so far from ready as an anti cheat. There are so many issues from constant false positive's to simply not detecting real hacks at all. Give it a chance they say, the machine learning needs to
Collect data, they say they will fix these issues in the next update but it was a complete waste of money, Their support may be better than others…. But it doesn’t end up mattering because I still cannot use the plugin due to the false positives it has.

The author contacted me years back wanting me to use their plugin instead of AAC, to which I denied. After AAC died I gave this plugin a try.

Despite the horrid stories about how the author(s) refused a refund unless negative comments were deleted, and how the author(s) attempted to double-charge users for additional services, I still went ahead and gave this plugin a complete evaluation.

Unfortunately, the headline here is that this plugin is not worth the money. We tested this plugin against existing benchmarks across 7 premium and free anti-cheat plugins and this plugin consistently false identified cheater/non-cheaters.

Many people leave reviews without even using it, referring to memes thinking that Spartan is still using BukkitEvents always. Problems are fixed very quickly as a matter of fact

not worth the money anymore. there are plenty of free alternatives with equal or better performance, plus spartan's bugs and lag are frustrating.

This plugin has very good marketing, which makes it seem like a good choice at first but after you buy it you will see that it is plagued by a bad core design which results in heavy server lag, poor checks and bad compatibility with other plugins.
Vulcan or Grim (free) are much better choices, in that they have better performance, better compatibility and better checks.

I've been using this a long time now on and off and its always worked. I've never had lag issues or any issues for that matter. Its a great help on a server and they will help you if there's a problem. So, get this if you need some extra security.

it can pull normal sprint players back and most hackers can bypass.
it can give you many false positive flags when your normal players without many mods do a sprint + jump hit.
There are too many places to ridicule, and the key is that it is still sold so expensive, and I do not think that spending money to feedback yourself for half a day can make it more than other anti-cheating

Originally I gave 4 stars but author gave a dishonest response. I purchased this for a 1.8 server, but Spartan broke my server and could not connect. Removing Spartan fixed it. Discord support told me I must update protocollib to an unreleased version that clearly said it did not support 1.8. I tried it anyways, but it broke ViaVersion. Only solution is to run server on Java 17+ but then other plugins break. Huge amount of work that it is not worth it. Discord support said I shouldnt be running 1.8 because it is 10+ years old. They claim to support 1.8 and Java 8, but only with a version of protocollib that does not support 1.8 or Java 8. That is illogical. They do not support 1.8 with Java 8.

While it may support 1.8, it does not support Java 8, and 1.8 uses Java 8. Discord support told me to run my server with Java 21, but because it is a 1.8 server, that broke a few of my plugins. They said they cannot support me further. It is a good support team and probably a good plugin but I cannot use it on my 1.8 server without doing more work than its worth

That plugin reach the roof of worst AntiCheat in market, more usefull use NoCheatPlus/FreeAnticheat that that one, don't waste yours time and money on that products, system "fakely" counting as AI where is cheater where is not, if server has more cheaters then legit players anticheat will be useless like in my case. Even if you will giving simple punishment with /kick its actually not doing anything.

Discrimination from authors side:
Peoples who purchased before that plugin with a same price not getting anything, who buyed after getting free bedrock version and expecting old buyers to buy one of the worst market systems again for "bedrock".
In a few weeks they changed that in to "Free everyone"... thats clearly seeing why spigotMC kicked out that "bedrock" version from official website here.

Support - Only AI
Plugin - Without any automatic punishent system, even if having isin't works, only for a picture "having but not having".
Author abusive behavior.
Free license - for a fake/nice rewiev.

I've been using Spartan AntiCheat for a while now, and it has significantly improved the security on my Minecraft server . The plugin is efficient, easy to configure, and provides excellent protection against a wide range of cheats . The support team is also very responsive and helpful whenever I have questions or issues . Highly recommended for anyone looking for a reliable anti-cheat solution !

Plugin does not work and I can see many other people getting issues with this anticheat. Do not buy as it does not work on folia and it gets tons of issues.

I've been looking for an anticheat for my folia server, So far there are not many anticheats with folia support and only spartan anticheat looked good to me. I bought this anticheat for $19.99 and it wont even work or load.

Simply the best anti cheat out there, I've tried a bunch of different ones, this is by far the most versitile and best option out there.

By far the worst anticheat I have ever even used, yes it does detect some stuff pretty well but the amount of false-positives is absolutely ridiculous, teleporting, sprinting, using elytras, etc flags me and my players for "Irregular Movement" and you just get flagged for "Ground Spoofing" almost 24/7 when walking and so much worse.

I've spent a good amount of time messing with the configuration and I just can't get it to not suck. I'll try to see if I can get support to help and if they can fix these terrible bug's I will edit my review.

TLDR: As of 09/03/2024 this does not work well on my purpur 1.21.1 server and is not worth the $23 USD.

The Documentation is written by a 12-year old who's favourite colour is red, the console keeps SPEWING errors like there's no tomorrow, the actual anti-cheat itself detects more false positives than pregnancy tests. It is a god-awful plugin and I will do everything in my power to get my money back.

I think Spartan AntiCheat is a good anticheat. I myself need it for a Bedrock Server and from what ive seen it should serve its purpose as an anticheat for my server.

Spartan has always been a goto for me, when it comes to SMP or other types of gamemodes.

The thing i really like about spartan is the config system, its so simple that its very hard to mess up as everything is handle for you with setback, ban vl and such.

So far, the Minecraft AntiCheat is working very well. Unfortunately, there are frequent false positives, especially with Bedrock players. I'm waiting for an update to see if this improves. Otherwise, it has a nice design and easy installation.

Spartan is a very advanced AC that updates multiple times a week. There is no ac on the market with such quick and good support. Continue the good work!

Very nice. good detections, good support. Theres no anticheat that updates this frequently. Very solid! few falses which will be fixed soon. still falses less frequently than any other anticheat that will detect something.

As the owner of a large network (+2000 online), I am extremely surprised by the reviews. The fact that the Spartans cost anything is extremely shocking. AntiCheat like Grim is at least x100 (yes, x100) better and it's free. Every year for at least 5 years I check the Spartan anew, deluding myself that anything has changed for the better. The configuration itself looks like it could be in 2013. A lot of false flags while zero detection of better cheats such as Liquid Bounce.

I use an anti cheat on my server that's different in a way. I don't have punishments but only detections on, so false positives won't get in the way of gameplay and moderators can review players. The problem with Spartan is that information about a player cannot be looked up when they're offline. This completely defeats the purpose, so when a hacker logs off I have no way to tell if they were hacking if I do /spartan info player for example. Scanning through the Minecraft console is inefficient. Back when I used to used Spartan I loved it, but using it recently I can't say that I do anymore.

Was trying to figure out why things weren't working.

I was using ProtocolLib 5.3.0. Spartan appears to only support ProtocolLib 5.1.0.

Rolled back to Ver 5.1.0 with minimal issues. The fixes on the other addons we have were minor comparted to critical on Spartan.

Hoping for future support on at least the current live version. Not expecting support for experimental, however it would be nice =).

The anticheat is quite good its giving somewhat a lot of false flags if you jump out to water from high distance the server thinks you are using nofall and kills you, i had to disable the nofall checks because of that. And if you drop items too fast, it thinks you are using fastdrop and kicks you.

Horrible plugin in terms of functionality. All it does is trigger a bunch of false positives and I still catch people cheating and have to ban personally without any indication from the plugin. And their support is pretty much a bot response or "Search it up a little" "Learn the plugin". Please don't waste your money on this. I wish i had not.

I've gotten the chance to use spartan before on a friends server so I'm already in love with this plugin. It works great! I have people flying around and all i get is a storm of nofall messages, and i had to disable nofall punishments because it kept pinging when i landed in water.

I have not tested this plugin and I write this rewiew to get a BE version plugin, so I rate 4 star. I will change my rating after using for a period.

Frap wanted to destroy the reputation of this anticheat, while having under his feet a terrible anticheat, the user of which I am more than 2 years, and he showed himself on our server (mineland.net) terribly. Earlier this anticheat really worked unstable and lagged behind analogues, but everything has turned around: Bypassing movement cheats has become a hell for cheaters, and to bypass Killaura and AimBot have to use a unique approach: correct movements, trying to do randomization, smooth rotations, and even so it does not often work for bypass Spartan. Vulcan stands still for several years, presenting minor updates and terrible, weak checks while having atrocious support, while Spartan updates at a breakneck pace, has free-for-all support, and is rapidly moving forward.

The truth is I really liked Spartan as it mostly detects movements hacks untill I decided to make a friend test it my friend used fly hacks from wurst client which didn’t get him kicked and I saw some really anoying things that really just made me regret buying Spartan

Like after getting the plug-in if you get a high playerbase they start checking checks as groups which there’s like some kind of a limit for and could possibly lead to false checks which you need to pay monthly for on patreon to change the maximum amounts of checks

The truth is that it is a very good anti-cheat, I have tried a total of 5 in the last year and the truth is that with Spartan I have not had any problems. People talk about having problems with their checks but most of the time it turns out that they edit these checks in incorrect ways.

Spartan's base configuration is now optimized and ready to play.

Additionally, they also have a plugin to detect bedrock users.

Very good purchase indeed!

It would be mega if you could customise that just so you can't see which tool you're using.

No laggs.
It still needs resources but not as much as other plugins.

Detection slots: as a non-Patron user you only have 5 detection slots, which are not really enough, so you are asked to pay again, which is perfectly fine. Nevertheless, this should be mentioned.

I would not recommend this plugin to anyone. Unfortunately, it does not function well with BungeeCord, which is crucial for my setup. Additionally, I am concerned that I may not receive a refund for my purchase.

Scam Anti Cheat. I am a customer of this anti-cheat in 2019 or 2020. I recommend not purchasing this anticheat. I used to upgrade my license for this spartan to spartan-syn. The anti-cheat keeps changing its license level. I lost my benefit of Spartan Syn, which I have spent an overall of 50$-60$ after the license level upgrade to spartan syn. Right now, it it has changed to new license level Spartan 2.0.

Also, there is no way to talk with other customers or get support on the Discord server. And it is tough to communicate with the developer, and there is no way to chat with him. The question asked in the discord will auto-reply by AI, which is useless and doesn't have any human reply.

Often getting false positives, I'm sometimes getting flagged myself when simply moving around and building on my SMP.
It sometimes even states that I'm a hacker in the player overview.


After speaking about another issue (I've already contacted the support in the past about but wasn't provided with a working solution), the author contacted me and provided me with a working solution.

Overall, support is okay and he mostly wants to help and answers fast.
However what bothers me is that he requested multiple times with large explanations to delete my review (was at 2 stars before) after fixing the issue, which I will NOT do.
Vagdedes, when you're reading this: I understand that your situation currently might not be so good and you don't have much income from this plugin. But requesting to delete reviews or giving 5 stars because ONE out of multiple (smaller) problems is fixed or just general things I don't like is no solution! I bet some of the other reviews were "forced" to be at 5 stars too.
I'm sorry but I'm writing real reviews and explain my problems with the plugin and support in them! I decide it myself when I'm deleting my review and how many stars I give while trying to be as fair as possible.
I'm already updating my review to generous 4 stars because the issue with the permission has been resolved. But in MY OPINION AND PERSONAL EXPERIENCE the plugin isn't worth 5 stars, considering it is a paid plugin.

Many false positives, I'm often getting flagged myself when simply moving around and building on my SMP. It even states that I'm a hacker in the overview where it says if players are legit or not.
Worst part is that after many years now the permission to bypass the anticheat still does not work. So me as an admin having OP and the specific bypass permission (spartan.bypass) is still getting flagged.
It is relatively long ago now but I once contacted the support about that and the answer was that my permission system was not working even though I was able to verify that it works (I'm dev myself and showed him the line where the permission is given, directly under a debug message that showed up. Also p.hasPermission confirmed that I have it. Heck, Spartan even sees me as a "staff player" but still punishes me.)
Overall had some smaller issues with the support in general (also with refunding on another plugin from this author).

My player count has dropped dramatically :D (POSITIVE) They were all cheaters.

Evan is sometimes a bit rough with his customers, you should get used to that, but he's also pretty fair. I had problems with the tool, he looked at it and fixed it and gave me Bedrock Detection for free.

It's currently working and you can see that some of the checks are a bit buggy but it's taking care of that. I use it on 6 servers and it hardly takes up any ram as other plugins (paid) are a lot more resource hungry.

The world's worst cheat protection doesn't check any cheats. We tried free cheats and the free cheat protections turned out to be better!

this may be the worst anti cheat you can possibly buy. A complete waste of money. After dealing with it hardly flagging any hacks and letting a free client wurst completely kill aura and allowing players to hit people behind them and not blocking any combat cheats I've encountered a nightmare.

For 5 days I've had my server completely lock up and freeze on me after running out of memory. I've been blaming my server hosting site every day and complaining that they are causing all of my issues. Come to find out it is spartan anticheat with a massive memory leak causing my server to ramp up to 16gb of memory usage. It's taken me 5 days of complaining, waiting on the server to unlock itself, just to have it refreeze and have to wait again to finally find out it is this anticheat causing all of my problems. I've lost players, I've lost money, and I've lost trust in me to fix issues over this.

I would never recommend this anti cheat to anyone. Even if they get this fixed as they do not block any common hacks. The ONLY positive is that is blocks people from ghost placing blocks to climb walls. Outside of that you are better just watching players to hack with this anticheat.

I used the Spartan back then, everything was always going smoothly, I thought it was a little more advanced now, but no. How can it be that everything goes through? I used a free client called "Wurst" and almost everything works. That's really embarrassing and I'm 100% serious about that. I'll also upload a video about it! Very disappointing really

I bought spartan and it said in description, "money back guarantee 3 days" i tried to get money back becuz of many many many bypasses like fly and other (yes vanilla fly) i also reported to owner falses on discord and got blocked, spartan is trashy many bypasses too many falses almost everything is falsing, got blocked by owner cant get support, also it said if you buy spartan you get antialtaccount plugin for free, never got it and cant get it. simple scam, if you wanna buy this first go test the plugin your selfe

very strange, not even the simplest hack like spider works well, it hardly ever detects it, sometimes it does, but it says it's a false positive

It completely doesn't work; waiting for a fix as a refund on the spigot isn't possible.

I'll review again when it starts working on at least basic cheats like FLY, etc.

This new update overall revolutionzed Spartan codebase! I checked the commit and it's insane long. Wow!

Spigot-Staff needs to delete all recent bad reviews that contain “Syn” that is something that does not exist anymore and is very confusing for non-customers.

Spartan is ok, some checks are better others are worse. Improvements are continuously being made. I wish it had Folia support.

This plugin even back in the day ran like booty and still does I would not recommend it.

I started using Spartan on my server, and I love it!

The number of features is just crazy, in comparison to the past Anti-Cheats that I used.
It detects cheats, that the other Anti-Cheats didn't detect, plus Cheaters get detected very fast, and with little to no falses.
The Anti-Cheats, that I used often had many falses, and were not as fast as Spartan.

The Developer is a very nice and great Person, he is someone who is just a master of his kind and is happy to help customers with their problems.
He is quick with fixing issues that you encounter with, instead of many other Anti-Cheats that take 2-5 business days to fix an issue.
You can definitely trust him with the safety of your server and your players.

I personally think that Spartan is a very good Anti-Cheat for its price, and it just keeps getting better with every update.

The protection is adequate, but it's pretty expensive and you have to pay extra to get decent support. Also a lot of controversy in the community around the author. Also has a monthly fee for 2.0 on top of requiring paying for this, which is not mentioned on this page.

In my several years of experience I have been shocked upon encountering such a professional software, and encounter a talented and understanding developer like him remains a rare event in this community.

REVIEW
1) User-Friendly Interface:
Spartan Anticheat comes equipped with a set of interactive menus, featuring essential tools such as enable, flags, updates, info, and punishments. The well-designed GUI makes it easy for server administrators to navigate through the main features, providing a seamless experience in managing and monitoring the server.

2) Reliability:
The software showcases outstanding reliability, demonstrated through rigorous testing on both Fabric 1.20.4 and Basic Cheated 1.20.4 clients. Spartan Anticheat effectively identifies and punishes cheaters without causing any issues or generating false flags for legitimate users. I purchased Spartan in good faith that i would be getting regular updates/improvements, I also purchased Spartan Syn thinking i was helping the Developer out. Damn was I wrong. Instead he's decided to butcher features out of Spartan V1 here, just to make it easier for him to keep it updated, has nothing to do with any benefit to Spartan V1 users/customers. Not a coincidence that he's recently released a Spartan V2 on Patreon, this latest action of butchering features from Spartan V1 stinks of him trying to encourage buyers to either lose out and have to find another Anti Cheat plugin at their expense or subscribe to his Patreon for access to an updated Spartan V1. You have to stay subscribed to continue to get updates which i find ludicrous. I requested a refund and expressed a desire to no longer use his plugins but, he has denied that request knowing very well that my purchase was made in 2021 and that Paypal do not allow disputes to be opened after 2 years of purchase, Paypal are currently reviewing this after i brought it to their intention. It's an absolute disgrace that he has treated his customers this way, if you're a customer like me and you've accepted it then his jokes on you. I don't stand for being taken for a fool, i certainly don't call the removal of features as an improvement or update, you should be ashamed of yourself.

The plugin is great, it is highly recommended, its detections are accurate and they do not usually fail, I recommend that you buy it yes or yes

An amazing plugin that has been around for many, many years now! I have been a faithful user since a few months after release and I STILL use it to this day!

I love the simplicity of the plugin and the ease of the configuration, you don't need to be a Dr to set it up unlike some others I have tried!

The customer support is amazing too and every time (rarely though I should add!) the dev has helped me out within the hour!

This product is a scam! The developer removes bad comments and offers to give a paid plugin for free so that people can leave good comments. It does not prevent any cheats, I do not recommend purchasing it!

This is a really good anti cheat, however my only compliant is it does seem to be a little sensitive and has even done a couple of minor detections of me speedhacking when I'm not. (It has said that I may be speedhacking, but it has not really said the chance is 100%.) Luckily it doesn't ever ban anyone falsely and has just kicked them falsely a couple times. (This could just be because of the low gravity mechanics on my server) Other than it seeming overly sensitive it is a great plugin! I would highly recommend this as it is way better than any other anti cheat I have tried.

I'm not satisfied anymore, even if I used Spartan for a long time by now. You got to pay for the plugin, pay for DC support, pay monthly for Spartan 2.0 and pay for any extensions.
I'm sorry but I don't want to only pay, I just want to have a working AC. ATM it is kicking false positives and doing nothing against cheaters.
That probably might be my own fault, 'cause spartan is not configured well, but then don't sell it as plug 'n play.
Unfortunately I will have to look for another AC.

I tried the last update. I still get false positives but this time the anticheat ignores them and they end up as notifications I can skip if I want. Great work dude!

To all customers this plugin is being attacked by a different anti cheat's developer that is trying to give false info about this Plugin by getting their friends or some of their customers to give a 1 star review on this Plugin by reporting an old issues and false flags that have been fixed already, they are basically don't care if an issue or a false flag can be fixed, they just want to get this product down, they are trying their best to take it down, From my experience and many other people, are still using this anti cheat and it's really doing well, and not how these false reports are claiming, Spartan is really the best anti cheat for java and bedrock, it has a many checks and many options and more and more, do not judge the book from its cover, and there is no anti cheat in the world that doesn't false flag, all anti cheats does false flag, but always this can be reported to the dev to fix it, it's simple and this is how it work with all other plugins, a player finds a issue they can report it to the dev to fix it, it's not a big deal this is how all plugins work, but at the end this Dev of spartan is trying his best and he is really doing well with his Plugins, try the plugin yourself then judge.

Great plugin! Despite what's being written it detects many hacks and gives you plenty of ways to deal with hackers. Personally, I like to set it to silent so it detects but doesn't teleport back.

This is a crap tier product; As a customer, I genuinely feel scammed.
The anticheat itself is about as confused as a monkey on a typewriter.

I personally have seen countless false positives (players who arent cheating being detected as cheating) and even more false negatives (players who ARE cheating but dont get detected)

Not only does this just genuinely suck as a product, the developer behind it is exceptionally scummy and anticonsumer asf.

For example, the product page for this project *STILL* advertises discord support. This is a blatant lie. Unless you subscribe to the developer's patreon, you are met by an "AI support assistant" that is about as useful as a taco bell employee.

There was some recent "drama" where in response to an honest review (that I wrote), Evan, the developer of this product threatened both blackmail AND legal action against a dear friend of mine whom he (incorrectly) assumed that I worked for. As a result, around 8 thousand people got pinged across both his own and a discord that I occupy.

Seemingly in response to this exceptionally irrational response Evan had, many people expressed their honest opinions in the review section.

Evan promptly cried to daddy SpigotMC and had many of those reviews, including my own, fraudulently removed. As a customer exercising my right to leave a review I am being suppressed, censored, and silenced all because my opinion of both this product and its developer werent *glowing*.

When looking through the reviews of this product, just know, the developer has worked tirelessly to get as many negative reviews as possible removed. In addition to that, he is *STILL* blatantly buying positive reviews. He is offering to give users who leave him a 5 star review another of his paid plugins free of charge.

This is *STILL* an extremely blatant example of review manipulation that has not been addressed by the SpigotMC staff.

I tested version 527 because I saw in the changelog an enhancement of the detection... Misclassification still exists, Spartan 1.0 is not as good as some of the free anti-cheats, Spartan 2.0 detects better than 1.0 but requires a subscription.
It is still not recommended to buy Spartans, there is no way you can get the quality of the plugin that matches the price.

He makes (empty) legal threats towards his customers for writing negative things about Spartan.

He coerces the Spigot admins to remove negative reviews.

If Vag hadn't gotten the Spigot admins to remove my first negative review, I would have moved on. But since Vag wants to behave this way, I have no choice but to continue to leave negative reviews for Spartan until something changes. Vag is a cancer on the Minecraft server hosting community and it's about time his racket comes to an end.

Honestly, the plugin has worked for me, of course it is not the best plugin in the world but I do think that some adjustments would work very well for it, my opinion is that it is annoying for my players to have certain actions applied to them if the antihack suspects that it is A "hacker" who, if he returns, immediately teleports him to the ground, is not something that is necessary, I just want him to detect possible hackers and rate them with a score. If the alerts continue, then apply some punishment to the owner's liking. The truth is, my opinion is I wish it were more configurable, more adjustable to the liking of the staff so that it could be perfectly adjusted to my players, so that actions that could disturb their gameplay on my server are not applied to them. I recommend the plugin and I will only wait for the owner to make it more adjustable. and modify so that actions that bother players are not applied

Nothing has really changed with the most recent update; The fact remains that this is barely a C tier anticheat that is maintained by an F tier developer.

The anticheat itself is lackluster, and the developer is a pain in the ass to deal with 100% of the time.

Just read the other reviews and carefully evaluate the type of person you are supporting before thinking about purchasing any product, especially this one.

Rated average because that's what it is right now (and has been ever since I bought it back in 2017). Your average anticheat. It's better than a kick in the balls I guess, as we say in Spain.

I personally think it might be a better idea to stop hacks as a minecraft community effort, not a single developer's private lucrative effort. So if anyone knows of open source GitHub projects going on for stopping paper server hacks I'd like to know (and maybe even participate in by specializing in some specific hack, which makes more sense than covering ALL HACKS on ALL MINECRAFT VERSIONS as a single dev).

Anwyway, back to Spartan.

Every single version spartan has had a handfull of issues. I've always said those spartan flight detections (got a bit better though!) were way behind the now defunct NoCheatPlus's flight detections, and I highly doubt the killaura detection ever worked (I've only checked like 80% of versions so it might be unfair to say it never worked lol).

THE WORST THING lately though, has been the support. I understand the developer needs to further monetize this project however reducing support to a crawl for those who don't subscribe is obviously being detrimental to (and is really pointing out the shortcomings of premium resource testing vs non-premium resource QA)

I suspect this project is just doomed to fail like the rest of anticheats, Dacanta, AntiAura, Matrix (wait, this one is still going? my mistake). Hell, even the (imo perfect) NCP shut down after 1.12. because of what I'm saying, this shouldn't be a single developer's responsability.

My suggestion: Make this open source and let other people help while reducing the burden of having to do all the work alone.

Or better even. Do like other plugins and make compiled jar paid for as royalty to the original developer, but actually have the open source project in the background for the more tech savvy and collaborators.

This review was not part of a "coordinated attack", I'm just a single independent customer that was planning on making this review even before I saw all the previous negative feedback, I actually think I rated and reviewed this resource quite fairly.

I've used Spartan for years. Every map I've used it for my players would have tons of issues and I'd need to disable the 95% of the checks to get it to stop impacting my normal players negatively.

I never rated the plugin poorly before now despite my feelings toward it because the dev is so hostile towards any reviewer that does anything short of a non-perfect review that you can guarantee that he, someone willing to be so unprofessional in his review responses, would completely ignore any further requests for help etc should you continue to use the plugin. In fact, it would not surprise me in the slightest if he just removes people from the buyer's list if people rate his plugin poorly. He's the most toxic dev I've ever encountered.

Vagdedes- I get that you worked hard for something and you are annoyed when people insult your plugin. I also get that no anti-cheat is perfect and always requires balancing. However, seriously man- you need to learn to take constructive criticism well and professionally.

Finally- very very overdue- I tried another anti-cheat: Grim. It's free and honestly it works well. No issues for my players and I tried a hacked client with several hacks and it blocked them. I did not extensively test it but I'm done trying pretend Spartan is working for my server when I have to disable literally 95% of the checks to make it work.

Also doesn't really make sense he is stating the reviews are part of a targetted attack because YOU HAVE TO BE A BUYER TO REVIEW. YOU REALLY THINK PEOPLE WILL PAY YOU MONEY TO POORLY RATE YOUR PLUGIN? More likely people all feel it's a bad plugin but have been too afraid to rate it poorly due to how toxic this dev is.

Ive been using Spartan for long time with friends on my server and it keeps crashing over and over and over and the tps always goes down. When I send my reports to the developer he keeps telling me to purchase his packages on patreon even just today he launched more patreon packages and is telling me all the time that spartan 2.0 is what I need to have so then why did I even buy spartan on Spigot? Support he keeps telling me to talk to a robot on his discord and refund forget it he just wont give me one. Why is he making people buy product here on Spigot website and then telling everyone that he doesn’t provide support or updating it for any errors or anything. Why always pushing for more money more subscription more patreon and always refusing to fix any errors and crashing and tps problem. Spigot staff please help.

And also I don't even use any frap anticheat and never bought any other anticheat after problems this one happening so much i just used a free one instead which was tons better but now i think i will try the other when i have the money for it because everyone recommending it.

I re-comment because I am not an attack from "Frap Development" Discord. I used to be a user of Spartan 1.0. Until a month ago, I couldn't stand him not solving a lot of problems with Spartan 1.0 and launching a paid subscription service for Spartan 2.0...

My comments disappeared so there was time for me to re-calm and objectively comment on this plugin.

Yes I tried to get a refund due to the poor effect with the low hourly wage in my area and it takes 2 and a half days to buy Spartan 1.0 and can't afford the ongoing subscription cost of Sparta 2.0.
I used Sparta for a year, it was still a good choice at 1.18 and 1.19, and 1.20 only brought troubles, it didn't get better, many problems still exist now, I went to his Spartan 2.0 server to test, the killing aura is still misjudged, dry land skating didn't do anything, and the same goes for slow flight.
I just want to tell consumers about the disadvantages of Sparta, and Sparta sometimes works... But it's not worth paying repeatedly to buy and there are better options.
I haven't gotten better for a year using it, and when I got into version 1.20, it would reset normal players... After the fix, there are other problems, and there is a long wait for a fix....

This is NOT a coordinated attack but my honest opinion: I tried to use it many times, but its my worst anticheat experience (tested, and free anticheats also performing better)
Many false flags, maybe better than nothing but im sure it is very useless to prevent anyone from cheating in any server.

Just to clarify any confusion that any would-be customers may have when looking at the recent reviews and the resource author's response, I will recap what has happened and let you form your own opinion.

Some days ago I posted a negative review of Spartan. This is the same review that will follow this update. It is my belief that as a paying customer, I have the right to let any perspective customers hear my own personal experience with both this product and its author.

While I generally do not post reviews, my review was prompted by Evan going out of his way to blatantly manipulate reviews by outright buying them. He, in his discord server, posted an advert that in exchange for users leaving a 5 star review, yielded them another of his (paid) plugins free of charge.

While I volunteer my time to both help with support and develop a support bot for a direct competitor to this anticheat, at the end of the day I am still a server owner who has genuinely uses and tests both products regularly. Out of respect for Vagdedes, I will not name this competitor.

Following my my review, Vagdedes (henceforth referred to as Evan) reached out to my close friend and leader of the competing project that I volunteer my time, Frap, with and threatened both legal action and blackmail. You can view his exact message here: http://bit.ly/3FXMiZ5

Following this, frap decided to drop an @everyone ping to bring attention to Evan's threats, which is well within his rights to do. In Frap's announcement, there was no call for any attack of any kind. Here is a direct quote from this announcement: "I also don't wish for anyone to assault/attack Spartan or Evan, I am simply just putting some facts out there and my own recent experiences with him, which are deeply troubling to me."

Following that, Evan also pinged @everyone in his community, in which he showcased Frap's response and called Frap's community 'unmoderated'.

Presumably due to the *8 thousand* people who got a ping bringing their attention to this conflict, a handful users decided to post reviews in which they detailed their experiences with both this resource and its developer.

In *yet another* blatant abuse of SpigotMC's review system, Evan reached out to SpigotMC staff and had many of the reviews removed for being a ''coordinated attack originating from the 'Frap Development' Discord". This is an outright lie. Both myself and others from the aforementioned discord have gone out of our way to make statements directly contrary to this.
Pinned in the discord, they have a message that directly states: "We do not condone taking any action against any party (including but not limited to spartan and/or their team members)
We do, however, condone leaving honest feedback and reviews of products that you have purchased."



In response to my original review, the author of this resource mentions how he was bullied in the Frap development discord, which he claims has no moderation. This is a blatant lie. We have simply chosen to let people voice their opinions and personal experiences about both this resource and its author without censorship.

Finally, I will also say that the claims and experiences expressed in my review are up-to-date with the version of spartan currently released. As a server owner, I keep myself up-to-date with different anticheat solutions as my own (as well as any other) servers need to stay up-to-date with ever evolving threat that is cheaters.

TLDR; C tier anticheat brought down by an F tier developer.


I normally don't write reviews since everyone judges things differently and my opinions may not matter to you.
With that said, I will go out of my way to write this review knowing full well that it *will* get me harassed and bullied by its developer.

This anticheat is on par with free anticheats (even manages to be worse than a couple), but this experience is destroyed by any interactions with its developer.

Reviews for either this, or any of Vagdedes's other products cannot be trusted either, weather be they here here or elsewhere. Full stop. It is well known that in exchange for removing a negative review, the developer will refund you your purchase (or even more than the amount of your purchase in some cases). But recently he has taken this to the next level and has started blatantly buying positive reviews.

On his discord, Vagdedes has a channel called '#my-account' with a button labeled 'Get a FREE Plugin!'. This button, when clicked, prompts the user to leave a 5 star review of Spartan in exchange for a free copy of one of his other plugins. This, in tandem with the review manipulation that already takes place is an egregious abuse of the review system.

The anticheat itself is okay, performance is kinda crap and it has a propensity for flagging players who aren't cheating, but as mentioned, its probably about a C tier.

Something that *isn't* advertised on the plugin page is that Spartan will, on its own, decide that a player isn't cheating and simply exempt them for some time. I wouldn't have thought that anyone would have needed to be told how incredibly stupid this is. Anyone can cheat, even users who previously have not.

Another thing of note is that Vagdedes has a history of extremely anti-consumer practices and behaviors. One of the biggest things that comes to mind is that time that he made Spartan just *not* check new players until 6 months after their first join until you subscribed to his (at the time) premium addon, spartan SYN. Both Spartan SYN and this "feature" has since been removed.

Additionally, while the spigot page (currently) *still* advertises support via discord, this is a blatant lie. Discord support was discontinued and instead only offered to users who subscribe to Vagdedes's Patreon.
Users who don't feel like dishing out a monthly fee for support for a C tier plugin are advised to contact him via email, which is... crap. While it is impossible to confirm this, there exists a non-zero chance that he could introduce issues into the plugin to prompt more people to subscribe to his Patreon. Quite literally, he would be getting paid to "fix" issues that he introduced.

Vagdedes, please, I do not want to be contacted regarding this review, thanks.

I’ve been using Spartan for long time with friends on my server and it keeps crashing over and over and over and the tps always goes down. When I send my reports to the developer he keeps telling me to purchase his packages on patreon, even just today he launched more patreon packages and is telling me all the time that spartan 2.0 is what I need to have, so then why did I even buy spartan on Spigot? Support he keeps telling me to talk to a robot on his discord and refund forget it he just wont give me one. Why is he making people buy product here on Spigot website and then telling everyone that he doesn’t provide support or updating it for any errors or anything. Why always pushing for more money more subscription more patreon and always refusing to fix any errors and crashing and tps problem. Spigot staff please help.

Save yourself the money and hassle:

I bought spartan over 2 years ago. And I have learned alot about Minecraft servers and what it takes to run a community. I am not going to comment on the performance of the plugin or if it is good or bad as I have moved on ages ago from this plugin. There are better - More goes into a purchase of a resource than just the product.. support and community surrounding it for one. The developer of this plugin Vagedes uses shady tactics when it comes to support & Service. For example In the past he has closed all channels on his discord including support. Hes opened a separate discord where you can get support but you pay more. Recently the decision channel has been open and he does help people but this all seems to change on a week to week basis. Vagedes often gets into conflicts with people and developers in the minecraft server space. He has gotten into petty arguments with some of the devs from purpur, paper, Vulcan(Another anticheat) and that is just the beginning. He has been known to hurass users that give his product a 1 star. Overall all I have to say is there are other options and better communities.

Most of the checks don't even work properly, and I get insane amounts of false flags, after talking to the developer he said he has too much going and is not his help was not really helpful, and on top of that he's releasing version 2.0, and then says he doesn't have time to work on this one o_O?

So what I'd say, is it used to be a good anti-cheat but I guess the developer is focusing too much on the 2.0 version and leaving the 1.0 behind, forcing users to buy a new one to have proper anti-cheat.

My comments disappeared so there was time for me to re-calm and objectively comment on this plugin.
Yes I tried to get a refund due to the poor effect with the low hourly wage in my area and it takes 2 and a half days to buy Spartan 1.0 and can't afford the ongoing subscription cost of Sparta 2.0.
I used Sparta for a year, it was still a good choice at 1.18 and 1.19, and 1.20 only brought troubles, it didn't get better, many problems still exist now, I went to his Spartan 2.0 server to test, the killing aura is still misjudged, dry land skating didn't do anything, and the same goes for slow flight.
I just want to tell consumers about the disadvantages of Sparta, and Sparta sometimes works... But it's not worth paying repeatedly to buy and there are better options.
I haven't gotten better for a year using it, and when I got into version 1.20, it would reset normal players... After the fix, there are other problems, and there is a long wait for a fix....

I usually would not have left a review, even though I'm not satisfied with this product, I bought it several years ago and gave it multiple chances ever since, with multiple Spartan versions. It always hat issues and a lot of false positives, always until a point, where players started to massively complain and I had to remove it again. Every new version I tried, promised a lot of fixes and improvements, still issues persisted. Needless to say, that I switched to a competitor meanwhile, what works more or less flawless.

Spartan is also more resource hungry than any competitor I've tried so far. And minor things, like visible MySQL credentials (including password) for everyone with admin GUI rights etc. just didn't make it better.

Spartan is not all bad, but far from perfect. Still, I would have called it a day and moved on without ever sharing my experience, but when I see that one tries to bully competitors and threatens them with ridiculous legal actions, only because their customers express free speech about what product in their experience is better and also threatens them with raids and cancellation, than fun time is over. Anybody supporting cancel culture has to be canceled himself.

Try to threaten me buddy and enjoy :)

If you will publish a public apology including a confession of what you have done, I will understand this dispute as settled and my review etc. will be removed.

If there is a single advice I could give the developer, it would be to stop fueling the drama! There are announcements on Discord where you mention @everyone just to inform us that you've had another meaningless (to us customers) debate with some other developer or what not. I understand your frustration but posting about it this publicly helps nobody and only upsets the customer as it shows you seem more interested in the drama than to make a good product.

But my negative review shall not go without actual, constructive feedback either.

- The plugin has refused to work properly in the past and every time I had to delete some random file or reset some value, just to see it happen again at a later time. This gives a really poor and amateur impression for the customer. I have other anti cheats that do not need such tweaking all the time, just to require it again at another random point in time that I simply can't keep track of.
- The constant attempts to cut features from the main plugin and to now develop an entirely new Spartan 2.0 shows the real motive behind this plugin. Not to create a good experience for the end user but to make money. Yes, we all need money to live but a Minecraft plugin is probably not going to make you rich, no matter how hard you try.
- The plugin has crashed one of my servers previously and the way it was handled was anything but constructive, helpful or professional and showed, like others have said before, how incapable you seem to be of any criticism. I state that the server crashes with Spartan, I provide a spark report, I provide a timings paste, I provide more proof of why it has to be Spartan yet the developer refuses to properly acknowledge the issue. Instead I get the finger pointed at me cause I'm running some container setup which is standard these days and has been running fine FOR YEARS!

It's all outrageous and the only reason I got this plugin was because I wanted one that catches Bedrock Edition and Java Edition users but you're honestly better off having two anti cheats for each separately, which is what I'm doing now.

I just hope at some point Vagdedes stops seeing every critique as an attack against him and sees how we just want something that works and satisfies our needs. We don't want excuses, we don't want the fingers pointed at us, we don't want to argue, we want SOLUTIONS! And you're far from providing anything that helps anyone.

I leave 2 stars and not 1 as the plugin does sometimes work properly and can catch cheaters sometimes but well, I've said enough...

BUYER WARNING – USE EXTREME CAUTION PRIOR TO PURCHASING THIS PLUGIN!

Spartan Plugin – I have used many Anti-Cheats in the past, from NCP, to AAC, to Spartan, to other custom solutions. Spartan has been, by far, the worst experience I have ever had with a plugin. From the constant false positives, the constant issues, the broken features, the missing functionality, and the continued stripped usage, it is something I, after running servers for ~13 years now, would never recommend. It lacks proper customization, it lacks full control over your own setup with in-depth value adjustment, it lacks stability, and most importantly it lacks competent code. We have had this plugin examined by developers who some may argue are the best in the industry and are the leads of some of the biggest projects for the Multiplayer Minecraft scene. Over and over again, it has been heavily recommended AGAINST and criticized for its terrible coding practices, its server destructive abilities through performance issues and its negative player experience. If you genuinely value your server and wish for new players to remain on it as opposed to being turned off, I would HIGHLY recommend looking elsewhere for an Anti-Cheat.

Spartan Developer – What can I say here that the community doesn’t already know? Evan has proven time and time again that his actions will never change. He will continue to throw old customers to the dirt in favor of pushing for more money from those same customers with up-and-coming products like Spartan 2.0. His support has been dumbed down to a funny little Discord AI bot, and he’s desperate at bleeding the only project he has dry because he’s somehow unable to find other ways to monetize his apparent “skills”. He is dismissive regarding anything that is ever said against him, and he is downright abusive and threatening towards anyone who dares speak wrongly about his Spartan plugin online. Time and time again, until this very week, he has threatened legal action against those who review his plugin 1 star or even talk negatively about it on other Discord servers. If you are the victim of such abuse and such threats you MUST SIMPLY IGNORE THEM and carry on. Evan will not sue you, lol. This young man barely knows what it even means to hold legal litigation in a civil court and uses large words, probably with the use of ChatGPT to break you and back you down. My only wish in life, is that a keyboard warrior like Evan would actually, comically, attempt to take me to court for talking “badly” about his project. It would be nothing short of hilarious witnessing the look on his face when he realizes how easily it is to bleed someone financially dry in such litigation and how long such a process can take.

I have been using this plugin for many years now and I have tested it with various hack clients.

Spartan has accompanied me through so many Minecraft servers (and server networks) and banned hackers without ever causing problems for regular players.

As the updates progress, you can clearly see how much effort is being put into constantly implementing new concepts and fixing errors as quickly as possible.

It just takes the IQ to ask questions on the Discord server instead of posting a 1-star review here, to be helped there within a very short time.

I can't really compare Spartan with other AntiCheats as I've not really used any others, but that's because Spartan just doesn't need an alternative or any additional system on any server to reliably prevent players from hacking.

I bought this plugin only for the bedrock detections
At the time i had to buy the plugin and another 3 plugins from the author to get the bedrock support in this plugin.
So far 4 plugins bought.
The he decided to create another plugin only for bedrock detections and i had to buy again the bedrock support.

Now he is trying to sell the spartan v2.0 java + spartan v2.0 bedrock as subscription???

Already bought 5 times only to get the bedrock support that is not even good.

The anticheat isn't good for java or bedrock detections, anyone can fly with any client or even toolbox. I only use to manually check the detections.

I was trying to stay neutral and move on after my experience with Spartan. This plugin requires you to pay him extra money to get support for Spartan and I did when I tried to get support for my issue which was that Spartan did not allow me to disable the multiple checks that were falsely kicking players, I tried through the checks file and the ingame gui and neither worked. instead of fixing my issue, I was told to stop using Spartan for either a month or so or for up to 6 months. So what was the point of paying you extra money? You just gave up and more or less told me to find a different AC which I did. and I was content just to move on then you started harassing the developer of Vulcan just because someone who volunteers his time there didn't enjoy using Spartan. Frap had nothing to do with the negative review why are you going after him for something he didn't do? I am tired of watching you basically pay for 5-star reviews by promising a copy of a plugin in exchange for leaving good reviews Spartan is not a 4.5-star plugin there are better plugins out there that are cheaper or even free. Stop starting drama every time someone hurts your ego the whole community is just tired of it and so am I, Just focus on making your plugin usable again and improving it, and stay out of drama.

I prefer not to say something if what I have to say is bad, but enough is enough, as a customer, I must tell would-be customers of my experience
I own a license for the Java and Bedrock Spartan plugin, I purchased Spartan Bedrock edition about 2 weeks ago because I was told that it has the best Bedrock/Geyser support (after testing it, I can say is all wrong and misleading information)
My Java subscription I have it for years, I went through a hell of a bad experience in the past when the developer decided to stop the plugin to check on new players that joined the server after 6 months, to get more money from you by signing up for a cloud shady feature.
Recently he stopped that bad practice and I decided to give Spartan another try to just be disappointed with all the bugs, you can even take the items from the GUI into your inventory too -_-
Asked before buying recently about the Bedrock version, if I could disable all punishments and only use for detections like I do with Themis, so then I could follow the player in spectator mode and tell myself if he is cheating, was told by Evan the dev. that yeah, I can do this and told me how
I purchased and tried it, it had so many more than Themis false positives, I did not like it at all
I decided to give it a chance and buy the Spartan 2.0 by becoming a Patreon (the only way to get support on his chat)
Wasted 4 days back and forth complaining and asking him to link my account to his website and Patreon to Discord so I could get his provided rank so I could ask for support in chat, was so frustrating and a super bad experience
Finally, I got the rank and was ready to ask in chat and was exhausted at this point, I had only 8 questions after reading the wiki trying v1, and adjusting the config. Files and trying everything myself without any support, I was a Patreon and had to go through all that hustle, he, at the end, had to manually link my accounts
Once I was ready to ask my 8 or so questions and 3-4 days later, exhausted, I saw the spartan plugin changed on my server from v1 to v2 automatically. What the hell?
I was ready to ask that question too, then a few minutes later I saw what made me just quit it all, Spartan decided to punish a player and it started kicking players, contrary to what the setting files would say to just report to me and not punish, plus I had all the options for the crapware Cloud features disabled on the configs, I was and I am still so pissed about it, that I tried to cool my head before posting a review here about the plugin.
For Java servers, I am so happy with Vulcan anti-cheat, that I trust it enough to detect cheaters and actually punish them, while 99.999999% of the time is accurate, their support is just the best
Once you become a Patreon like I did, you don't get access to the general discussion channels, you get removed from them, so you are not allowed to interact with people who have not bought the 2.0 (aka Patreon subscription) plugin yet or the v1 witch sometimes other users can help you better, plus is 2 different discords, and not even 2 discords plus Patreon gets you basic info/support.
Instead, the only support person that could help you was just not available to help you, instead many have to ask an AI he claims he coded which it seems is just ChatGPT with feed document information about the plugin (very frustrating)
In conclusion, I would never recommend to anyone Spartan for Java or Bedrock edition, Themis surpasses it in Bedrock functionality, while Vulcan is just better for Java, Themis respects your settings, is free, warns you if configured properly, it only gives 2 false positives on my setup, and not a wall of spam on chat like Spartan does, paying for his Patreon account to get 2.0 is not worth it, it is basically the same 1.0 .jar file + something else I was never able to ask in detail to him (cloud feature?) because I was stopped and told to ask on the support channels instead (no rank, and 3-4 days later I got) or just email.
If I find myself in a situation where I'm investing both in the plugin and a Patreon subscription, the least I expect is a well-configured Discord support system that provides live chat assistance instead of enduring prolonged delays or through email. The current setup, which compels supporters to waste a significant amount of their time, raises concerns that go beyond mere dissatisfaction. It begins to resemble a questionable business practice, where the primary focus seems to be solely on financial gain, giving the impression that the developer is more concerned about accumulating dollars than delivering a premium-quality plugin. This discrepancy between cost and service quality prompts me to question the legitimacy of the offering and whether it genuinely aligns with the standards expected from a premium product.

This plugin uses bukkit events to ''prevent'' hacks, and its been proven to be the worst way to do so, as many leading AC use packet events instead, also Vagdedes is the ONLY developer out there that does not accept criticism and threatens to SUE anyone who does, also you have to PAY him even more money to get support... not worth it

I use spartan anti cheat on my minecraft network and smaller SMPs I work on and operate. I love the plugin and the support behind this plugin is really good. I would recommend this to anyone who needs a good anticheat. you will probably need to mess around with the settings a little to get it working well for your server but after you get it locked in it works amazing for almost every server!

I used Spartan Anti-Cheat for a longer period of time when it was 1.18.1 (I had a purchase history email) and as the version was updated Spartan Anti-Cheat got worse and worse, not even as good as some free anti-cheat... At the beginning of 1.20, it will suddenly pull back normal players, and after nearly a month of waiting for the problem to finally be solved (I don't even want to report this problem to the author), there are still a lot of false positives, and even let go of cheating players who fly slowly... I haven't used this plugin for a month now, I tried to contact the author for a refund (I'm a selfish person because the hourly wage in my country is low, 22.49 euros is equivalent to 2 days and 12 hours of work), I can vouch for what I said is true, I even got a plugin given away from his site for reporting bugs (used but it worked very badly).

Do not purchase this plugin under any means. Not only is it extremely unstable and causes problems with EVERY single update, it is run by a developer who will threaten you with everything he has to remove your bad reviews. Choosing who you do business with is just as important as choosing the plugin itself. If you value your money, your server, and your sanity, stay away from this project.

Complete waste of money. Even amateur hackers can bypass this AC. There are lot of better alternatives on Spigot marketplace, even some free anticheats perform better cheat blocking and performance wise.

My worst anticheat experience ever. Check the new positive reviews; most of them are the first reviews from users... not weird. I totally wasted my money on that, checks are mostly very bad, and how the developer acts in public is really terrible. This includes fake reviews, arguing through the plugin, and attacking people who think it's not a good anti-cheat. (Also removing people from buyers list because they don't like the plugin.) Really really childish and wrong treatment of criticism and of customers.

I don't recommend that plugin at all, its definitely not useful and support & communication is also bad.

Drama aside, Spartan is an inferior anti-cheat being sold at a premium price. GrimAC (free) and Vulcan (premium) are better options. Do your own research and you will find this sentiment reaffirmed elsewhere by anyone who has compared Spartan to its competition. Don't waste your money.

I have owned this plugin for a few years and It hasn't ever really worked as intended on my server. Moved to another plugin for a while but it was discontinued so I moved back and had the same issues, I eventually bought another plugin that has worked since then. Also after what I have seen about how the developer acts towards people in the community, I won't be supporting this project anymore.

i have been using this plugin for about a year and i would like to say that Spartan Anti Cheat is the best plugin i have ever used, becauase it has many checks and many other things and it's hard to bypass it and the best part about this plugin it doesn't only dedect java players but it also dedct bedrock players. (i have seen some bad reviews about this plugin and am also in the discord server and some people who doesn't know how to config plugins or how to learn to be patient they just get mad and be toxic to the dev of this plugin )

I normally don't write reviews since everyone judges things differently and my opinions may not matter to you.
With that said, I will go out of my way to write this review knowing full well that it *will* get me harassed and bullied by its developer.

This anticheat is on par with free anticheats (even manages to be worse than a couple), but this experience is destroyed by any interactions with its developer.

Reviews for either this, or any of Vagdedes's other products cannot be trusted either, weather be they here here or elsewhere. Full stop. It is well known that in exchange for removing a negative review, the developer will refund you your purchase (or even more than the amount of your purchase in some cases). But recently he has taken this to the next level and has started blatantly buying positive reviews.

On his discord, Vagdedes has a channel called '#my-account' with a button labeled 'Get a FREE Plugin!'. This button, when clicked, prompts the user to leave a 5 star review of Spartan in exchange for a free copy of one of his other plugins. This, in tandem with the review manipulation that already takes place is an egregious abuse of the review system.

The anticheat itsself is okay, performance is kinda crap and it has a propensity for flagging players who arent cheating, but as mentioned, its probably about a C tier.

Something that *isnt* advertised on the plugin page is that Spartan will, on its own, decide that a player isnt cheating and simply exempt them for some time. I wouldnt have thought that anyone would have needed to be told how incredibly stupid this is. Anyone can cheat, even users who previously have not.

Another thing of note is that Vagdedes has a history of extremely anti-consumer practices and behaviors. One of the biggest things that comes to mind is that time that he made Spartan just *not* check new players until 6 months after their first join until you subscribed to his (at the time) premium addon, spartan SYN. Both Spartan SYN and this "feature" has since been removed.

Additionally, while the spigot page (currently) *still* advertises support via discord, this is a blatant lie. Discord support was discontinued and instead only offered to users who subscribe to Vagdedes's patreon.
Users who don't feel like dishing out a monthly fee for support for a C tier plugin are advised to contact him via email, which is... crap. While it is impossible to confirm this, there exists a non-zero chance that he could introduce issues into the plugin to prompt more people to subscribe to his patreon. Quite literally, he would be getting paid to "fix" issues that he introduced.

Geat Anti cheat. I Specialy like the Gui of this plugin, because you can see every single player and stats.

Very regular updates, as you would need. I detected all the necessary banners. Does need a lot of configuration, but that comes natural if you have so many possible hacks and preferences. Overall it does what it needs to and support is great. So it is great :)

Respectfully I would appreciate a refund. I feel like you should let your customers know that just because it supports GeyserMC does not mean that it will detect any cheats on bedrock while detecting java cheats. I thought by paying for a more expensive plugin was going to give me less stress on the cheating issue and for me personally this was not the case. I even bought the Spartan Bedrock edition (not the same as this one) just to find out when they're both installed it will only block bedrock cheats or java cheats and never both. Maybe it's somehow just me but I'm just tired of spending even more money than the original cost to end up with the same problem as when I started. Hope this helps someone.

The weakest point of this plugin: IrregularMovements
With BedRock is same, need to disable all IrregularMovements checks.

For I think the 3rd time or more within a year or two this plugin has entirely lost checks like the ones against flying. On my survival server it seems to work fine for a while and then after some updates it just downright fails. For anyone reading, I highly suggest just regenerating at least the checks.yml every time you update!!!

I don't know why, there is no indication of anything being wrong, it just stops and then when I regenerate the checks.yml it starts working again fine. This is beyond unacceptable and just ridiculous. If I have to regenerate it, let me know, maybe add a config option so I can be alerted when things seem off. This plugin is supposed to protect my server, not let everyone do whatever they want, what the hell??

Apart from that, the past has shown more flaws such as bad communication, when clearly the plugin was at fault. It wasn't acknowledged that it's the plugin nor said that it'll be fixed, it just was fixed a while after and I was just left really confused about the whole communication and all.

I set the NBT of the boat to enable flight, and it flags to the moon. having a fast asf horse, with NBT that makes it so fast flags to the moon. playing normaly can flag a lot. jumping, waling, and sprinting tends to flag a lot, all when perfectly legit. this anticheat needs a lot of work, and a lot of fixes, that truely should be fixed by 500 builds.

Dev is really good and active for giving out support, Not many devs try to resolve issues with energy Evan does. Really appreciate the extra steps Evan does to fix the issues and resolve any problem buyer has with the plugin... Keep doing the great work.

Also, that's not even the worst part, You can't config this plugin to your liking, Like for example if you want to change x-ray notifications to only trigger for certain blocks or change to spawners you can,t.
If you want to change the sensitivity of notifications for one of the checks, You can't. Dev will do it for you from the cloud, When you ask him what he changed, He will say Enjoy the result no need to worry about what I changed. That's kind of shady if you ask me.

The only thing you can change in the config is enabling or disabling some of the features.

Spartan is probably the worst anti-cheat I have ever used. I don't understand how it has received 5/5 star reviews.

There are many falses with the checks, and a lot of bypasses to it. There are free alternatives on the market that are far better than Spartan.

I occasionally revisit Spartan to see if it has improved, but every time I do, I am disappointed.

Overall, Spartan is undoubtedly one of the worst anti-cheat solutions on the market and should probably have a rating of 1 or 2 stars. It has too many bypasses and false positives. I would not recommend this to anyone.

Without a doubt the most useful anti-cheat I've had. It is a bit delayed when detecting xraying and hacking, but this together with coreprotect, I'm able to stop those scumbags every single time and rollback any resources they took from the world.

most of the checks in spartan are at best slow at detecting cheaters compared to the competition. spartan also lacks crucial cheat checks like checks for elytra, causing potential server lag and the ability to move between places really quickly without any fireworks.

author's unprofessional response to negative reviews is concerning, calling me an "amateur nobody" for leaving a negative review in the plugin previously. my previous review was removed by spigotmc, because it was influenced by some drama that was going on at the time, i have now tested the plugin and made my new, up to date conclusions on the plugin.

spartan only offers official support through email, unless you pay monthly in the patreon of the plugin. community support is of course available through discord, but i paid for the product, and paying for the product means that i should receive proper support; most plugins on this site offer quick discord support.

please explore better alternatives, there are many on this site.

Evan has continued to maintain and improve Spartan over the years, showing his dedication despite the kicks and shoves thrown his way by a small but vocal portion of the community. Anti-cheat plugins are not a one size fits all solution, but Spartan Anti-cheat has served and continues to serve it's purpose without problem for me.

I think it's time for me to give my honest opinion about Spartan. It has gotten a lot of hate in the last few days, so I decided to do this.

I will also mention some previous issues/problems Spartan has had to clear up some common misconceptions.

I bought Spartan some time ago when the developers made some questionable decisions, like selling Spartan Syn, which adds some extra but essential features, which was not the best decision. However, that was in the past, and if you buy/download Spartan now, as far as I know, you get all the promised features for the normal price (at no additional cost).
Discord support was recently closed and is now behind a paywall, but you can still get free support in the discussion area and via email. Understandable, by the way, since the developer probably got a lot of DMs.
If you also want to have Bedrock player checked, you have to pay extra for that, which I thought was a questionable move at first, but now I can understand it. There is hardly any competition that also checks Bedrock players. More on that soon, though.

Next, I want to talk about the false flags. When I bought the plugin a few months ago, I was very upset about the many false flags. I started reporting them to the developer, and he fixed them very quickly, sometimes within hours. The current state of Spartan for Java is very stable and I highly recommend it.
On the other hand, I don't really recommend Spartan for Bedrock if you want a plug'n'play anti-cheat. You may have to disable some checks or report false flags to the developer frequently, but as mentioned before, they are fixed quickly. However, I must mention that to the best of my knowledge/testing, Spartan is the best and most reliable anti-cheat for Bedrock players. So if you really want Bedrock players to be checked as well, Spartan is the right choice.

TL;DR: If you are a potential buyer and want Spartan for Java only, I definitely recommend it. If you want Spartan for Bedrock, you may have to disable some checks or report false flags to the developer frequently.

I used different plugin like H*ck*dS*r**r, that really interesting plugin but... players had problem to connect server so it was really bad to use.
Spartan is so ***** nice. Easy to use and do config things. Autobans, no lags and set up everyting with GUI. Really best plugin for cheap price. With this plugin im really happy that i don't need to check players and im free to spend time on buildings new things.

Scrapped plugins, detection does not take effect most of the time, even bedrock version flight cannot be detected, the experience is extremely poor, cheaters often fly around

Avoid this Anti-Cheat. I have a very vanilla Minecraft server and this anti-cheat will kick and punish players all the time that are clearly not cheating. They will be walking around an area and randomly teleported back several minutes to where they were. Players can't use the boat trick any more to move down cliffs. They get random KillAura when fitting or block reach while mining. To make it worse, giving a player the Spartan.bypass permission does not remove them from the checks.

Too many false positives. It becomes annoying even if they are solved relatively quickly, others appear again and again. In almost 2 months of activity, I reported over 10 false positives. It gets really crazy especially if you have more players on the server. I decided to go with another anticheat and at the moment I have had nothing but good things.

Just wow! I have got to say, when I first bought this plugin, some of my friends in the minecraft server community even warned me about it. They said that it would probably be better to buy (at the time still active) AAC, as it was slightly more popular.

Well, I'm glad I never did. I don't know how AAC would have performed and if it had been a good choice, but in hindsight, buying spartan was the best decision I ever made.

The developer of this plugin is INSANE! He powers through 100% of the time and releases update after update, always improving and fixing bugs as well as adding new features. The work he does can't really be compared to most others on this platform and really shows commitment to his customers and products.

Spartan is really one of a kind in the anticheat space. Where anticheats like Sparky, Verus, Intave, Matrix and others that cost more than $100 fail, spartan excels with fewer bypasses/false positives and higher stability, ensuring server performance. Spigot anticheats have had a bad reputation historically, but spartan breaks this and provides a full solution to cheating in almost any environment.

Probs to Evan for creating such a good product and for maintaining it for seven years already! Keep up the good work, I hope I'll be there to witness the 10-year anniversary.

Excellent plugin! Works really well! But i have only 1 question: If someone moves a bit (Without hacks) i get an message for Unlikely irregulairMovements. How to i fix it that it only detects cheats?

I have to give this rating because the plugin in almost 100% of the cases detects hacks / cheats and performs up to 50-60 checks of everything the user does saturating the resources without kicking or running anything although the first command is to kick it takes too long to do so.
Many times it detects everything but does nothing, it does not prevent the action and this is more of a cheat alert plugin.
Maybe it works for many but it was a bad buy.
Hopefully it will continue to receive updates.

Excellent discord support, was helpful and fast. However is it possible for a refund, I saw that there was partial support with the AureliumSkills plugin, but unfortuantly there was too many false positives across different checks, resulting in multiple players getting kicked. Will re-purchase down the line whenever I make a new server without AureliumSkills.

I have been using this plugin for a couple of years now. I moved my server to Java edition, and needed a powerful anti-cheat plugin to defend against anyone taking advantage of my new server. I found and installed this plugin, and hoped for the best. About a year after I was running this plugin, I came to the realization that I have had ZERO issues with hackers, dupers, and otherwise cheaters. I thought it was interesting, since I have had many of these issues in the past with old servers I would setup. I took a look into my Spartan Stats... It was filled with hundreds of players that were detected and even auto banned. Spartan truly has protected my server and I do not know what I would do if I did not have this masterpiece. Thank you Vagdedes for your incredibly hard and dedicated work!

The AC is overall bad, I've been encountering 5 cheaters bypassing per week, and that's only if the server's community does not know what AC you are using, and 15 per week if the AC is known.
I've also encountered lots of false positives, whenever I find one, or two, or even three, I would definitely report them, but there are too many to report

When I used this plugin 2 or 3 years ago I loved it. Spartan was the best anti cheat on the market at this point and was perfect. BungeeCord was support was way better and the handeling an absolute dream. But they messt a lot of things up. This Anti cheat still works fine but the new menu, connection and storage method is stupid. The checks became difficult to setup and the bypass for certian players still doesn't work. Today I swiched to a new Plugin. I was really happy to use Spartan in the past but they really messes this plugin up.

so i have latest version of Spartan(today) installed on papermc 1.19.3(latest), with default settings. but i turned on all checks. but still, my players can use fly, speed, killaura, hitreach,...

Good, anti cheat, but should add a spesiphic check for each type oof hack, so if one causes problems, we will be able to disable those, False falgs a lot for high ping players, and combat checks are mostly good, but then just everything bypasses. idk why

False positives are few and do not use much server TPS.
Even if a false detection is made, it will be corrected as soon as i contact the developer.
Developer support is very prompt and very courteous.

Top 1 anti cheat plugin in minecraft..
This is the only anti-cheat that fixes bugs through frequent updates.
I'm impressed by the manufacturer of the plug-in.

I will say this to all bad reviewers, to md_5, and all of spigot as a whole.

1. Remove the $20 limit put it back to the old limit of $40 specially with current inflation.

2. Hacks are constantly updated thus Anti Cheats need to be updated just as often, that means time spent working on plugins, that means money needed to keep working on plugins, meaning you better get your damn act together Spigot, developers are leaving your platform for a reason.

3. All other Anti-Cheats are only catching old cheats, the real cheaters and hackers use the best hack clients they can get; because that's how they do crap.

Anti-Cheat plugins should have their own category when it comes to plugins, because an Anti-Cheat is the same as an Anti-Virus program; it's there to defend against the virus that is hackers and cheaters.

This plugin is the highest ranked Anti-Cheat that doesn't force you to use other plugins to work as needed, other premium anti cheat's I've used required extra plugins to work as needed.

I look forward tot he day that Spigot is forced to close due to developers leaving, because the price limitations on here stop them from being able to keep working on their plugins in the current economic issues.

GrimAC is free and works better. Spartan significantly drops my TPS and constantly false flags players

Recently, I've found that plugin support for many large plugins has been extremely difficult to obtain, and it leaves me waiting months for solutions to problems which arise. I was using an anticheat which was having this problem, and so I looked for an alternative coming across Spartan again. After downloading it, I had a couple of issues and reached out to the developer about the problem. Within literal minutes, I had a response along with a fix and more information. I could not believe the insane level of support that they provide here. Paired with a plugin which has extremely good performance, along with one of the best detection rates and lowest false positive rates I've seen in 6 years, I am confident in saying this plugin is excellent and the developer can be trusted to assist you.

Great support from the developer. Usually responds quickly to any support and overall provides great customer service. Using this plugin for the past few years, I haven't had many major issues with it, and even had a player trying to test the anticheat say it was annoying. Would recommend to anyone looking for a good anti-cheat!

I started using spartan in 2021. I also bought the SPARTAN SYN product right away. At that time, the plugin had a lot of false positive flags, but Evan is working very hard on this plugin and constantly changing things. Currently, after more than a year of use, there are no false positive bans. It is maybe a little weaker in detection, but there is no problem like with other anticheats that you have to check people and unban. Anticheat blocks all very disturbing cheats very well. It does a little worse against less disturbing cheats, but it is described what anticheat detects, and what it doesn't, and everything works fine with this list. Overall, at this moment, I highly recommend it and I hope that SPARTAN will continue to develop in such a good direction as it is currently

I recently started using Spartan again for my server, and it is great!

There have been an enormous number of new features from the last time I used it, and I had no issues to easily integrate it into my server again.

Spartan provides a very broad range of detections and also has few to almost no false positives. I had a hacker problem on my server basically from the moment I started using another anticheat. The second I put Spartan back in, the cheaters my other anticheat wouldn't catch were already being flagged and banned shortly after.

I also had the privilege of getting to know the developer of Spartan a bit more, and he really is not only a talented human being, but also someone that you can trust with the safety of your server. In my opinion, Evan is a person that you can work with very well and who will try to make the best out of every situation for his customers.

This anticheat solution deserves to be called one of the best on the market and really keeps all the promises made about it and even more than that. Obviously there may still be better alternatives around, but unless you want to pay hundreds to thousands of euros for a private grade anticheat this is literally the best you can get for the price.

Thanks for making this plugin and for keeping it well maintained and updated throughout the years. Keep it up and keep being a great person!

Lately this plugin has caused serious issues, servers crashing and environments melting down. I highly recommended users look towards other Anti-Cheat solutions due to the actions of the owner of Spartan. A developer of Paper, whom works for me, stands by this opinion. Further more I retract any and all reviews previously left for this plugin.

BE ADVISED: The owner of this plugin controls nearly all aspects of it when loaded on your server. Configuration, settings, etc. Should you ever disagree with him or his opinion you will be threatened with diminished service.

Very good plugin I used this plugin before and and it is great also the support I reported a small issue and on the same/next day it was fixed im not sure.

Relly nice Plugin with an additctional Servece callt Spartan Symc that you need to use that Plugin on more then one Server.

The author is probably the most devoted person to his creation that I've ever seen. There is no other developer on this platform who would spend hours on developing a plugin and providing support for it.

Evan is an extremely competent developer and Spartan is a great example of his work. The plugin works excellent and has a wide range of compatibility with many different plugins. Evan stands completely behind his products and is willing to go out of his way to make sure things are working as they should on your server, which is the perhaps the most important things when purchasing a resource such as an anti-cheat

Well first off completely ignore the review from KoKoBerry they're a Karen, we know how Karens are, they lie and don't listen.

As you can see by the reply from Vagdedes, is the person also doesn't care to read, tends to be the case for many people who put terrible reviews.

Now then with that out of the way, this plugin is a 5 star, you can tell that from above at the rating and the total reviews, if it's 5 star that means the people who have been getting it; were not only able to get awesome customer support from the developer/dev team, but that the plugin is working perfectly for them.

Anti-Cheats are hard to make 100% that's because all servers are different, with different settings and plugins.

So make sure you go through the right avenues when setting up this plugin, if you need help the Dev is willing to help give info one what needs to be done, to have it work with your server's set up.

....I have dealt with an Anti-Cheat that actually tried milking it's customers, forced you to need more than one plugin to work fully. I never even added it to my server, nor tried to have it work on my server; because I never got around to it... and when I did it already changed it's name twice and told me it doesn't function without another plugin I had to pay for.

So that being said, once again completely ignore the 1 star review written by lil miss Karen KoKoDingleBerry, because there is no other top tier premium Anti-Cheat here on Spigot. I recommend you get this plugin, because it has a dang good dev behind it, who updates it on a regular basis ONTOP of the fact that they will help you iron out the settings so it works just right for your server!

I have had this anti-cheat for over a year now, and it has never failed me and is almost always correct! The price is very reasonable for what you get, The add-ons(sold as separate plugins) work fluently with the anti-cheat, and improve the overall experience.

It's effortless to configure to your liking. I had no experience with doing anything plug-in-related and figured it out within minutes - asked the developer to help me with some errors, very quick response, and fixed it within 10min!

Making a server is expensive and an anti-cheat is SO necessary, as I like to say you pay for what you get: an amazing working anti-cheat!

I got an email from the Vagdedes website telling me that Spartan Anti-Cheat will not check any new players for cheats after 6 months of purchase from spigotmc.com. It states that I need to spend another $20 on the Vagdedes site to continue service.

I'm sure I've had OK success at dealing with cheats with this plugin, but I'm really turned off by having this shady message come in from email and have that stated no where on the plugin page.

I'm sure its stated in the discord, which also shows other things the plugin has or offers that spigotmc.com doesn't allow. But I'm not interested in joining yet another 3rd party site or app to get disrespected by a developer or other people who lurk looking for something to spew.

Another thing to note, it specifies very clearly "new players". That shows you very well know you are showing your intent to milk as much money as you can. You know that a large amount of people who use these cheats are new players.

The economy is doing bad, and honestly I don't see any benefit to spending more money on this system. Again, I'm sure it helps others but I personally haven't really seen that many actual alerts from it. I'm sure you could argue its my configuration, and maybe it is. But that also points at another problem with the system, its not really "easy" and it takes tweaking. But see that's the excuse they can hide behind. "Well you need to tweak it", do I or are you just avoiding the possibility of having a mistake somewhere?

So since I can't use the plugin to actually check people for cheats, since all of my players will be new, I have no reason for this plugin.

Anti-cheat works very well and does not consume a lot of resources!

It does its job well and gave my server peace of mind. The detections are accurate and rarely fail, and have fairly low false positive rates. The developer is very friendly and was responsive with any issues we had.

We relied on Spartan for over a year but have recently switched to an open source alternative which has arguably performed better.

Some data collection practices felt a little invasive and unnecessary, and there's not any way to fully opt out. I couldn't really trust confidently that Spartan was just collecting only absolutely necessary data, and any information I could find on this was very vague. Just didn't feel entirely comfortable, but that's just my experience.

Overall a decent anticheat, I would just recommend exploring multiple options before committing to this resource.

Idk what to say this is a REALLY Good anti-cheat! It work very well and the support is perfect they answer you in minutes! I really love this anti-cheat it detect perfectly. I use it mostly with player on bedrock because bedrock player cheat a lot. So this work very well against horion!

Caused issues with my server, had to remove it, tried all testing, and reached out, but because it didnt specify his program so he didnt care, reached out to my server hosts and they recommended another so this is my good bye review, i dont really have an anti cheat issue on my server since its just a small group of friends. Everything worked fine until i used this authors plugins.

There are many forums where some random people said this is the top 1 anticheat but it's not and don't trust them because they clearly have no idea what are they talking about.

If you really want the best AC, you will never find it on Spigot or anything like that.

This Anti-cheat has always been something, I been trusting for the start and until now.

The developer will help you quite quickly with issues and your suggestions will sometimes be added like the advanced player collection system that works by giving you more free room as a new player and even more based on the data that spartan has processed and the other way around on cheaters, this means if you cheat your actions will be looked at more strict then a normal player, this provides a great anti-cheat solution for destroying cheaters while having your legit players not noticing spartan is there.

Would definitely recommend this to SMP / kit-pvp servers or minigames servers with massive amounts of game modes.

This is the best anti-cheat I've ever used, and the developer is fantasically quick at responding when there are issues (and a really nice person as well!). Cannot recommend this plugin enough.

I thought about leaving a review for a long time now, but I think its for the better if I share my thoughts on this plugin.

First of all, I'm no spartan hater, I bought spartan years ago and tried using it on multiple survival and pvp events and in the end couldn't use it because of flaws in the plugin.

But what are those flaws?


--- Cheat detections ---

Spartan lacks behind in technology:
While some anticheats already started implementing accurate server-side client-movement-code emulation, that prevents movement cheats to an insane accuracy with minimal bypasses and false positives, Spartan still has widely inaccurate movement checks that either false flag legitimate players or don't detect cheats properly. For example receiving damage allows the damaged player to highjump up for a brief moment allowing them to reach enormous heights within a short amount of time. This damage "bypass" is caused by damage exempting certain checks, which results in inaccurate checking in some scenarios, however these scenarios are preventable with checks that are closer to the actual client code and physics.

Spartan still uses Bukkit instead of a packet-based approach.

Spartans combat checks I couldn't really test since I was able to get false kicked multiple times for either killaura or hitreach on a vanilla 1.8.9/1.18.2 client on the official testserver. Given those circumstances its hard to tell if something is being flagged because of the check being good, or just the check flagging everything including normal players.

But that isn't the only thing bothering me about the checks.
Spartan also has a system that attempts to identify legitimate players and exempt them from being checked to prevent false positives and save performance. This system however is flawed and gives cheaters the ability to disable checks on themselves by fulfilling the conditions of being identified as a legitimate player.


--- Experiences with the developer ---

Vagdedes, the developer of spartan has the habit to contact people that leave negative reviews. Vagdedes almost always tries to convince the person that left the review to remove it by either giving them a refund and/or by just pressuring them into it by telling them sad stories.

Me and a friend of mine made a this experience when my friend left a "negative" (3 stars) review on Spartan. Vagdedes contacted us shortly after, telling us to remove the review. My friend didn't remove it though and it still persists to this day. (You can check by yourself, just scroll down a bit)

I find this kind of review manipulation quite problematic and I'm definitely not claiming that Spartan is the only problem child here,
but asking every person with a "negative" review to remove it is highly manipulative and wrong.

It has may expansions, the most popular being Spartan Syn, I've bought that after owning Spartan for over a year and I have to say I've been everything but un-happy with it!

The recourse is updated quite frequently, the support is 20 of 10 (extremely amazing), you can report bugs with an in-game command, the cloud feature it offers is also quite spectacular! Definantely worth the price.

By far the best anticheat, I got spartan syn and they work amazing on both host types I've used so far. There was a couple hiccups but the dev helped out really quickly and was super nice to talk too!

Great plugin, one of the easiest to setup and pretty reliable for your checks. Perfect? not quite, I think it is really hard if not impossible to have a plugin detect every cheat possible, but VERY very reliable and it does a great job. Recommended.

Spartan is a great anticheat, while not being extremely expensive it surely provides the better qualities over it's overpriced competitors!

The support is amazing, and the developer is actively updating this plugin, I'd highly reccomend this to anybody who owns a server especially smaller servers since it's extremely user friendly and pretty much just plug and play!

Spartan is definitely my favorite anticheat. I wanted to find a free anticheat for my small server, but once I came across spartan, I was sold. The developer is very active, and will solve any issue that you throw at them. My friend and I wanted to play bedwars on my server, and my friend is to say the least a person who likes to cheat. As SOON as he activated 1 of his hacks, he was kicked. He then went on and said “Even Hypixel doesn’t have this technology.” I genuinely recommend this anticheat to anyone who wants something easy to set up, and effective. I would give this plugin 8 stars if I could.

Still the best for something simple and advanced definitely give it a try! and with the constant updates too :)

I honestly love Spartan great support constant updates I feel like Spartan will never die and that the developer will keep it running props to the dev for making a good anticheat never lags the server great performance just a overall 100/100 anticheat

Honestly not sure how there are so many positive reviews of Spartan. I have been in the AntiCheat Community at least since Spartan started and i heavily tested it over the years and never was satisfied with it. So I went with testing the latest release thinking after that many updates and years of hard work this has to be a solid anticheat solution finally. But no. Went on the testserver and got kicked for legitimate pvp within seconds. Not that I did not test it heavily. Set it up on my own server, tested it with and without plugins like ProtocolLib, ViaVersion etc I tried other MC Versions etc etc but no luck, Spartan was still performing bad in not detecting legitimate players.
Spartan does detect cheaters pretty well, that is not the problem. The problem is the huge amount of false positives. And that is not an issue of the current release. As I stated: I am following the development of Spartan since the very beginning and tested it heavily over the years and always got similar results.
But I think Spartan is fine when you change the default config to not kicking/banning players. There are probably some checks you can let auto ban but you will need to do a lot of testing and config changes.
