BungeeCord Staff Chat -----

A simple, straight-forward way to communicate with Staff on your Bungee network!

3.2.1 introduced a bug that if the server didn't have RGB support, it would not be able to handle staff chats at all. A check has now been added, that will fall back to pre-3.2.1 behavior if that situation occurs, so older Bungee installs will now once again work.

This small update to BungeeCord Staff Chat adds support for RGB color codes within staff chats. You can use the RGB color codes using the ampersand character, followed by the RGB color code, including the hashtag. For example, color code 45ef02 would become "&#45ef02" when used within the BCSC config.

Now releasing version 3.2 of BungeeCord Staff Chat, containing a fix where a Prefix or Suffix wouldn't get color coded correctly. This should be fixed now.

Also added an optimization to the LuckPerms checker. It's now separated from the main plugin class, and has utility methods to interact with it more easily.

Now releasing version 3.1 of BungeeCord Staff Chat, this time adding support for the {PREFIX} and {SUFFIX} placeholder. These will, as you'd expect, insert the player's Prefix or Suffix, respectively. This also means that the config version got bumped, to 3 this time. The upgrade will be performed automatically for you.

Now releasing BCSC 3.0, the 3rd Major version of BungeeCord Staff Chat. This release features a few changes:
  • Java 17 is now the minimum required version to run BCSC.
    • This is done to encourage server owners to adapt more recent LTS versions, rather than sticking to Java 8. Java 8 has been with us for almost 10 years now, and it is starting to show its age. Java 17 offers many advantages, such as overall better speeds and stability, and allows us developers to use more modern language features, that make our lives easier as well.
    • All plugins written for Java 8 will work just fine with Java 17, so you don't have to worry about that either. Java is known to be really into backwards compatibility
  • The plugin has been reworked from the ground up to be more stable, and reduce code repetition. This makes it easier to update the plugin in the future.
  • Added /sc toggle, allowing staff to always write to staff chat, without requiring the prefix or /sc command. Using /sc toggle again will turn it off.
    • This can be disabled in the config.
  • Pushed the config version to 2, to reflect config changes due to /sc toggle.
    • BCSC will automatically migrate over to the new config version, reserving your old settings in the process.
    • Backing up your existing config is recommended. The chance for things to go wrong is small, but it is possible. Backing up should be a good practice anyways.
With this release of BCSC, I've also finally made the code open source, for everyone to see. It can be found at https://github.com/TheAlgorithm476/BungeeCordStaffChat.

I would also like to thank NiceCraftz for testing out this release.

Now releasing BCSC Version 2.3, addressing an issue where players without the bcsc.use permission were able to send messages in staffchat.

It's recommended for all servers to update to this version.
----------, Jun 26, 2023

Version 2.2 of BungeeCord Staff Chat is here, and it comes with 2 long-requested things:
  • DisplayNames are being added back in, after being removed in 2.1, due to them not working in 75%+ of the cases.
  • Added basic LuckPerms support. This support is very basic at this moment, and only involved fetching a user's DisplayName. This feature will later get more functionality down the line.
Other changes:
  • Config Version has been set back to 1, due to the {DISPLAYNAME} placeholder being available again. It is advised to change the config-value: 2 back into 1.
  • Config Values are now being handled by a Config Handler. This changes nothing for you, the user, but allows the code to load ALL of its config values at the start of the plugin, or a reload, instead of making continuous calls to the config file. Again, little, unnoticable change having great performance gains.
I would also like to use this spot for sharing a little thought, and the future of BCSC.
Thanks everyone for the amazing support you all have given to the plugin! It is amazing to see many positive reviews, and noticing that over 35 servers are using this plugin, and those are only the ones that have their Metrics enabled! It's amazing to see those things happening, it's like a dream to me.
Allright, now time to talk about version 2.3+ and 3.0:
  • 2.3's going to have no big changes, except if I think I'm ready for it. It will only add an update checker, but that on its own will be enough for an update.
  • 2.4 is planned to have a way to toggle your staff chats, so you don't have to write /sc or your prefix the entire time.
  • 3.0 is going to be huge. It's going to involve another recode of the entire project (hence it being called 3.0, instead of, let's say, 2.5). I won't reveal too much about it though. Wait for another update log ;)

This small update to BCSC that removes the {DISPLAYNAME} placeholder, due to it not working. It might get re-added later on, but at this moment, it's not possible to get it working. The config will get auto-updated to replace the Displayname with Playername. Sorry for the inconvenience, I'll try re-adding it later again.

You've been waiting for it. I know, it took a while, but it's finally here!

I added a lot of things to it, including Placeholder support from within the config, and a reload option. It will also let you know if something goes wrong, somehow. Version 1.1 and 1.2 did like to break a lot, so I recommend updating to this one.

Thanks a lot for the patience! Enjoy BCSC!

With this little update, you will be able to customize it a bit more, in the waiting for me re-coding the entire thing, making it easier to understand, and easier to use. This is just for the persons waiting for the 2.0 release. You can just keep using the 1.0 or 1.1 version, but I suggest updating from 1.0 to at least 1.1, and to 1.2 to have more customization options.
----------, May 19, 2020

No specific additions to the plugin, just making it a bit more stable, and including Metrics Support. I have not yet implemented a way to disable it, maybe I'll keep that for 1.2 :)
