It works fine on Paper servers. But do note that it will not work for mob spawning and crop growing, but that's the same for Bukkit/Spigot. Try to update Paper to the latest version, maybe that'll resolve your issue.

@Geitenijs I saw a review recently saying it does not work for crops with or witout players online. Has that been fixed, will it allow crops to grow when chunks are added to keepchunks. Also does it allow animals/mobs to keep spawning say for iron farms and such or is it only redstone to keep working?
Thank you very much for making this plugin, had some trouble with my armorstands to that registered. Figured out it was because the chunks got unloaded when a player got too far away. This plugin was the solution for my problem, thank you!
good but spamms

Plugin works perfectly and keeps my important chunks loaded! Only downside is I cant run it on a Sponge server (
https://www.spongepowered.org/) it would be nice to see this ported over to Sponge or even a forge or fabric mod. This is the only plugin I found that works, there aren't even any better mods. Keep up the good work,
I can't get the plug-in to work on my server and I'm not really sure why. I'm using Papermc for my server. I've looked everywhere and everything I find says this plugin is supposed to work with paperMC. so idk
Works as intended on my 1.17 SMP world :) One issue is that amethyst clusters do not grow. Other than that minor issue this plugin rocks and is exactly what we needed!
Great plugin. Threw it on, told me I need an older version, got that older version and that worked like a charm.
Only slightly confusing thing for me was that the coordinates are chunk coordinates and not block coordinates. After having cleared that confusion up I was very happy with the results.
Stuff stays loaded as it should and the option to prevent any chunks from unloading even made my minigame work smoother as the chunks don't need to be loaded.
Works great! I have only one problem. I'm using it for my farms and in overworld it works just fine but I'm having trouble with my gold farm in nether but otherwise it works perfectly.
what is the exact command for keeping the chunk you are in and how do you write the coordinates? do you stand in each corner or what? if its possible to keep the chunk you are in without using the coord sistem i give it a 5 star
Had a problem and the owner responded quickly and overall great plugin
(The problem is some mob farms do not work but if you be a little bit of troubleshooting it will work very well)I am saying it again but the response was very quick so your problem will be fixed in a few days
Hi I'm having a little Issue with This command /keepchunks keepchunk (coords <x> <z> <world> | current) I don't understand what the current means nor the <world> If you could please help me
Great Plugin, Quick Updates, I use this for my lobby spawn world to keep it loaded. Stops it being continuously unloaded when no players are on the server, meaning the lobby shows almost instantly for new players. 5 Stars
Thank you! I'd love to have that option, however it's currently not possible due to limitations in Minecraft itself..
Version: 1.6.5
Judging by the other reviews, I think this is very reliable. I just can't seem to figure out the /kc keepchunk (coordinates | world) thing. What does the world part mean? Can someone give me an example command?
Thanks! You can specify the coordinates and world if you wish to load a chunk that's not the one you're currently in. Use /kc keepchunk coords 132 95 nameofyourworld for example
Version: 1.6.4
Plugin is amazing, personally use it to keep iron farms and other crop farms loaded so I can afk mob farms instead. Any idea when a 1.16.1 version will be released?
Was planning on releasing it yesterday as I had quite a lot of time, however Spigot wasn't updated to 1.16 yet.
I'll probably release a new version today
Version: 1.6.3
KeepChunks is a phenomenal and easy to use resource for any and all server owners. The plugin allows users to capitalize on a relatively unknown game feature in order to improve their loading times and create redstone and/or minecart systems that are normally impossible!
This plugin works really well, the whole keepchunk rail option is so convenient and all is explained very well. My beefarm in the end keeps pumping honey while I am in other dimensions!
Works flawlessly! Been using KeepChunks for many years now - primarily to keep commandblocks/redstone running. The author is always very quick to respond, no matter if it's about a bug or a feature request. Ever since I accidently found it years ago (when literally every other chunkloading-plugins had been abandoned), I'm quite confident that this plugin won't just be abandoned ever. So, in my opinion, you can safely rely on KeepChunks.
I tried to address your issue in a private conversation and you never replied again. If you're still experiencing issues with KeepChunks please send me a PM.
Version: 1.6.3
Very good plugin but if its possible you can make this work when no player is on the server :D
Great job!
Thanks! The plugin works when there are no players in the server, however things like crop farming will not work due to limitations in Minecraft. Railroads and many other things will keep working when no players are online.
Version: 1.6.2
This plugin is very useful for loading long railways, however would it be possible to add a setting that can tie chunk loading to the minecart? This would help performance as the railway would be loaded as needed
Hello, great plugin! It's just missing a little thing that would be good, it would be to add a functionality allowing authorizing (for example) a certain grade of power ChunkLoad 1 single claim and not one more etc.
For example :
Admin can chunkload endlessly with permission: keepchunks.loads. *
A player can chunkload 3 claims thanks to the keepchunks.loads.3 authorization.
dose what is supposed to, allow a hopper minecart does not pick up items while in a market chunk , it can first pick them up when a player come closer to it
Well, it's a lot more versatile with WorldEdit & WorldGuard support. Good luck automating region loads/unloads with /forceload. You'd have to use hundreds of command blocks, while it only takes 1 command using KeepChunks
Version: 1.5.13
Excellent plugin! however, I didn't see how to delete a region that I don't want to load anymore
I marked chunks where my villager crop farm is located. It produced only 2 stacks of carrots. while im writing this comment it produced 12 stacks so definetly something is not loading up properly. same with my pumpkin farm. over night it produced 20 pumpkins. it made 5 stacks while im writing this.
Simply Great!! My server can't work without this plugin, because I'm running the 1.14.2 and there is a big problem with chunks, so this plugin can help a lot!
Does its job, but if you opt to keep the world loaded, your TPS will drop and eventually the server will run out of RAM. Memory leak? Not sure. More likely it's just too much for the server to handle.
Running Paper Spigot 1.13.2 and latest KeepChunks as of this posting. Turning all to true in the config results in this. Shame, because I'm having horrible issues with lighting bugs and this fixed it, but the lag is unreal.
That's why you have to reload KeepChunks regularly. It's clearly stated in the config.yml.
Minecraft servers are sadly unable to keep that many chunks loaded.
Version: 1.5.12
Amazing, no longer falling on teleporting in 1.14. I keep just one chunk loaded at each of my warps, improving perceived performance a lot.
Overall great plugin. Removed one star because this needs to support WE/WG ver 6.0.0+ not 7.0+ like who uses WE/WG for 7.0.0??? also it needs a feature to maybe keep all chunks of a specific world the ones that are loaded in my case I want to keep all chunks loaded on everything but I can't do that. Please add those features also 4 stars ain't a bad review it just is lacking some important features. Thanks for making this!
Thank you for your review! Unless you can find a way to allow WE/WG 6 and 7 to exist in the same version, you'll have to use an older release of KC. PM me to get a link.
Keeping all chunks in a world loaded is not possible, as every world is infinite. I am however working on a new feature which might be useful for your case.
Version: 1.5.11
Does not work with 1.11.2(download for older dont exist checket githup).. only with latest. I cant update my server to latest one yet.
Thanks for your review! I've answered your question on GitHub.
Version: 1.5.11
I used Keep Chunks ages ago and had a couple of issues with WE integration which the dev fixed pretty much instantly. I then stopped using it for a while, and while setting up my servers reset i thought i'd try it again. All was working fine until i installed WorldGuardExtraFlags which gave me loads of chunk errors so I figured it was Keep Chunks *It wasn't xD) and that I could just use the WorldGuardExtraFlags 'chunk-unload' flag instead. The amount of lag that flag caused was insane! The server took an extra 5 minutes to load, so I suddenly realised how awesome Keep Chunks is and vowed never to try any other chunk loading technique again!
I have been using KeepChunks for a while now, and it works great. It keeps my selected chunks loaded perfectly. Redstone and other mechanics work fine when loading the surrounding chunks.
Awesome!! I'm going to try and let my players use this to take their earned in game currency to keep a chunk loaded... I wish there was a time limit and/or a way to connect them with UUIDs, but I'll figure something out...
I'm not really into integrating this directly into KeepChunks, however you could try using MyCommand to create custom commands to keep chunks loaded, and charge your players for it using that plugin.
Thanks for your review!
Version: 1.5.10
Does exactly what it says without any issues. + commands have tab support (Bonus points for implementing such a feature (Bukkit make it annoying to implement tab completion)
Very simple, very useful, very effective!
I don't give anyone perms but that just makes things even easier because I just have a default group and I use op, but it's good permission nodes are on front page. I use this for my spawn and warps I expect to be popular. It works as expected and is very simple to use - I literally run around with my //wand and mark the regions I need to stay loaded and one command makes my server run faster! Thanks!
I really like this plugin, it works fine with commandblocks, that need to be loaded, too! I only had problems with Citziens NPCs that got removed thru this plugin. I dont know if this can be fixed.
A few things that are somewhat problematic though.
I am running a small server for me and a few friends, so from 0-4 players on at any given time. This server is running spigot on MC version 1.12.1 as we like the mechanics and some useful glitches on that version and don't really want to do the aquatic update content. We have a 3km long railroad meant to send chest minecarts down for resource transfer but the problem is that the plugin does not keep the chunks loaded such that the minecarts will actually go down the track. I have tried to patch spigot with the 3747 patch and installing tickchunks but failed after many hours of not really understanding how to patch and then install the spigot version. However, I found in a thread that it was possible to keep the chunks loaded for minecarts if one kept the chunks around it loaded as well. So I went to go test that, not fully sure if it meant I needed to do that with the patch and tickchunks or not, but I encountered a problem. My keepchunks had been updated to version 1.5.4, and this version is only compatible with world edit 7.0 or above. Problem I have with that though is that world edit 7.0 only works on MC 1.13 or above, which I don't want to use. It would be very helpful if more information was added on how to make minecarts move with this plugin, if its possible with non-patched spigot, as well as putting legacy versions availible for download as I was not able to find these versions anywhere. I have no problem with using keepchunks 1.5.6 or above but I'd like to atleast be able to download the old versions, even if I have to relaunch the server every time I want to world edit in some new chunks.
Using KC 1.5.1 with MC 1.12.2 (on PaperSpigot) and KC is working perfectly on all servers of our Bungee network - chunks stay loaded, even if there is no player on a server. I use this functionality to copy areas to other areas as some sort of dungeon-instance, before sending players to that empty server to play their dungeon-instance.
Also, thank you for adding the option to disable auto-updates, as I generally prefer manually updating everything on our servers. :)
This plugin works great for loading chunks. It does not make farms work on it's own however. But I have implemented a patch of spigot and installed the plugin TickChunks. It then works perfectly. Thank You for a great plugin.
This plugin does exactly as it says. This is one of those plugins for me that worked so excellent without having to do anything or read up/research how it works, it just did. I never write reviews but this is truly an amazing addition. Could not be more satisfied.
It installs easily, and the server log says it gets loaded (nice ASCII arts, BTW). When turning on debug output in the config.yml the plugin nicely logs which chunks are kept loaded upon server start-up.
I have realized that chunk loading doesn't help with crop farming unless a player is nearby. But then I don't need chunk loading in the first place. However, I've implemented a patch (SPIGOT-3747) that allows keeping sending ticks to entities and blocks in chunks loaded using this plug-in. With this, the plug-in proves very useful.
I like the way the command/help/syntax structure has changed in this version. Have been using KC for ages now, and since it's literally the ONLY plugin that actually does what I need it to do (keep chunks loaded, so for example /clone commands can copy things into them, and so commandblocks are working), I absolutely recommend this plugin.
This plugin is by far the best at what it does with minimal resorce use. Should be noted if you want to process entitiess load a 5x5 arount the chunk and it will process entities. Plz continue to update.
Great Plugin, does exactly what is said. Took away the TP lag instantly when using Worldedit for large selection at my shop 10,000 blocks away from Spawn with just me in the Server. Definitely recommended.
Quite a good chunk loader plugin! It helps me a lot! 5 stars!!!!
btw can I advertise this to a Chinese Minecraft forum MCBBS? I want to share this with Chinese players. Of course I'll mark you as the author and let the download link stay on your spigotmc page.
Tried multiple plugins like it and none of them have proven to be as effective as this one! Thank you so much for this amazing plugin, It has literally saved my server! :D
Fantastic plugin, easy to use, working fine most of the time. Although I have one question, I build a slime farm on a slime chunk, when I'm online, it works fine, and I made that chunk keep loaded by your plugin, but it seems slimes are not spawn while I'm offline, is this normal? Thanks for your help!
Easy to install and use. I was having a problem with NPCs loading weirdly when players warped to them, keeping the chunk loaded with this fixed it completely. Thanks :)
I was having an issue with Citizens in a custom village spawn I had built for my server. This plugin flawlessly kept my village chunks loaded and prevented Citizens from failing to load villagers! Thanks for this plugin!
Really, really, really nice plugin! It does what it needs to do and works great! (PS. For those of you who want a list of all the chunks which are loaded, look inside the config.yml :P)
Does what it states on the tin, Keeps the chunks loaded! easy to setup and mark chunks, loads quickly when the server starts up (of course that depends on how many chunks you have loaded)
NiceDude It work beter than ever now Thx you <3 for the excellent Update I hope people wil donate you good work so much time put in it dude this is professional work !! love it :)
I don't know, try it ;)
Thanks for your 5-star review :)
Version: 1.1.1
Love your work You did a nice job this plugin help me a lot!! so yea thx you <3 my server can now almost open !!! :So Happy Btw Plugin Work amezing. i wil donate you 10$ :)
After trying out pretty much all chunkloader-plugins I could find, this one finally did it for me. Works flawlessly and it's very intuitive and simple to use. One of the very few plugins I ultimately can't live without.
