Description

"The Box" is a Minecraft plugin that gives users one random item every 5 minutes. Its intended use is to accompany a custom "The Box" map (download link below). When used together, "The Box" becomes a unique Minecraft survival challenge.

Inside of "The Box" (an 864 x 864 x 84 block tall hollow glass box COMPLETELY surrounded in barrier blocks) you will immediately be placed into "Tier 1" and will receive random items like dirt, saplings, and seeds every 5 minutes. As you play in "The Box" your "Tier" will increase and the random items will be of greater rarity. This continues until the plugin places you into "Tier 5". Giving "The Box" a custom experience for every player, but also keeping the survival challenge somewhat balanced so players can start basic and end with possibly anything they could find in any other Minecraft world.

"The Box" brings a certain creativity with items you may never think to use in a typical world full of resources. It, in a way, declutters the standard survival experience while still providing the opportunities for a significant and long standing survival world. "Tier 5" players can even receive random drops of end portal frames making even end game accomplishments still possible and potentially more rewarding than in a typical survival world.

As of now, this plugin only has two official maps that were specifically built to work alongside it. "The Box" map is the original and more difficult challenge. The "Boxed Buddies" map was created to be a more "multiplayer friendly" version of the challenge. "Boxed Buddies" has 13 hollow glass boxes connected via glass tunnels all of which are also completely surrounded in barrier blocks. "Boxed Buddies" has one main 440 x 440 x 80 block tall hollow glass box and twelve 50 x 50 x 50 block tall boxes surrounding the main box.

Commands

The plugin has a few important commands:

• /thebox - Activates "The Box" for the player and begins giving them a random item every 5 minutes.
• /tpbox - Teleports the player into "The Box" (also works in "Boxed Buddies").
• /diary - Gives the player a free diary to record their Box adventures.
• /tier - Receive a message in chat stating your current Box Item Tier.

Notes:

"The Box" has been built to be off by default. Whenever you enter the world be sure to use the command "/thebox" to activate the box for your session. Also, if playing multiplayer, you can decide if only one player receives random items from "The Box" or if all players do. If you want all players to receive random items every 5 minutes make sure they also use the command "/thebox" otherwise the drops will only come to the person who has activated the box.
