UPDATE 1.10 - GENERAL IMPROVEMENTS

Changes:
- Switched over to using tsparticles ( https://particles.js.org/) for the firefly effect, allowing for easier customisation and improving the effect (fireflies no longer go over the logo and better adapt to different screen sizes)
- Removed jQuery and updated existing JavaScript code to work without it
- Improved maintainability of JavaScript code and added new configuration variables in main.js (tellUsersWhenServerIsOffline, severOfflineText, and ipCopiedText) to make customisation easier
- Slightly darkened default background image
- Added subtle white 'glow' to the server IP address
- Swapped out 'Forums' for 'Discord'
- Fixed bug in which displays/windows with a short height wouldn't allow vertical scrolling

Want to update from a previous version?
I recommend this update if you're using an older version - tsparticles is a fantastic project and you can create some really neat effects by modifying the configuration (in main.js). I think the best way to update your existing site would be to customise the new version files by comparing them to (and copying over your existing customisations from) your existing site.

UPDATE 1.9.2 - BUG FIXES

New Features:
- Fixed small bug in main.js when port isn't set (shouldn't affect most users)
- Switched all JavaScript to ES6 syntax
- Improved playercount fetching code
- Updated jQuery version
- Added preconnect hint to font import (will very slightly increase load speed)
- Removed some redundant code from index.html (was a Discord widget for a previous client)

Worth Noting:
- The API to fetch the current playercount has a cache, so querying it more often will not update the player number any faster
- The API also has a rate limiter, so please do not query it too often


Want to update from a previous version?
Both index.html and main.js have changed this time. If you are updating (from version 1.8+), the most important file to change is main.js. There is no need to update from version 1.9.1 if you do not have any issues.


Apologies for two updates so close together. If you already updated to version 1.9.1 you can skip this version.

RELEASE 1.9.1 - API UPDATE

Recently the API I use for this web resource went down. This means the player count for your server wouldn't load. As a lot of people rely on this resource for their Minecraft server websites (and to ensure reliability) I've implemented my own API. This means we'll never have an issue like this again

Want to update from a previous version?
If you are updating from a previous version, the only file you need to change is "main.js" in the "js" folder.

RELEASE 1.9 - GENERAL IMPROVEMENTS

- The portal now correctly resizes for most tablets.
- The scroll bar on the x axis has been disabled.
- SEO meta tags for Open Graph have been added, meaning the site will display nicely on Facebook, Twitter, Discord, and many other platforms.
- The default size of the logo has been slightly tweaked.

RELEASE 1.8 - NEW DESIGN!

New Features:
- The playercount now comes after the images.
- The playercount has been redesigned, yet again, to stand out and now has a more eye-catching design.
- The background dots have been fixed and the gradient adjusted.
- The icons have been updated.
- The text below the icons has become cleaner, and the font matches the rest of the website.
- Click to copy functionality has been added on the IP address.
- The logo movement animation and the icon hover animations have been tweaked.
- The default colour scheme has been set to blue, but you can access a red version at https://bybilly.uk/Portal-1.8-RED.zip. If you need any help changing colours, please contact me.
- Particles can now easily be toggled in main.js.
- The site has been updated to look better on mobile devices.
- Several CSS bugs have been fixed.
- The playercount no longer relies on an external script.
- The font has been changed from "Helvetica" to "Open Sans".
- Logo moves in and out, rather than tilting left and right (this update has been live for a while, but I forgot to document it).

Want to update from a previous version?
As a load has changed in this update, I would strongly recommend overwriting all of your old files with the updated versions.

Tidied some code here and there, but the crucial update is with the particles, which now work much better! ( Preview)

To update your current portal, you need to drag 'fireflies.js' from the 'js' folder into the 'js' folder on your website. If it asks you to overwrite, make sure you allow it!

RELEASE 1.1 - OPTIMISATION

New Features:
- Search Engine Optimisation has been integrated, which means you stand a good chance of your server coming up top on google with this portal! (It will take a while for google to recognise it)
- I have rewritten some code to use a mobile first approach and, subsequently, make the portal faster on mobile!
- Alt tags were added to images, to help with SEO and with anyone whose images do not load/have a disability.
- The mobile version of the website has also been greatly improved.
