Wonderful plugin, been using since it was free. Kainzo has consistently updated his plugins for as long as I can remember.

Waste of money, this is what you get when you support paid products. They won't even provide build instructions for the source, what a bunch of jokers ‍♂️

The best chat plugin there is out there! I use it on my 1.17.1 servers
with bungeecord and everything works fine. Config files are simple, all the information I needed was there. Nice job, keep at it. I recommand this plugin.

awesome plugin when i used on 1.8 however it seems a bit harder to figure out this time around.

could use an updated video tutorial.

some examples in text of creating a channel and adding/changeing prefix/suffix/colors as i dont see how to type the string properly (some trial and error might figure it out after a while)

i.e: /ch create/edit/modify <channelname> <prefixset> <suffixset>

wish i could change /nick to something else as /nick changes "my char's" nickname as far as i understand with newer versions like 1.16 which i am on now.


when i do /help it shows 1/3 pages... how do i goto page 2 or 3?

If you have a question, you can ask it in Discord, but it will not be answered. The "guide" does not explain anything and if answered, then only sporadically and unfriendly. If you could give 0 stars, then it would now be 0

This plugin WORKS! Currently using it on paper 1.16.5. It works just fine with the 70 other plugins my servers use including DiscordSRV. One note to the author though, your attitude is a little distressing. Yes, I get it, most users are www.noob.fail and cant bother to RTFM. But, please, breathe deep and possibly edit those posts. (bad PR is still BAD). <3

Disappointed I wasted my money on the premium version Absolutely no support... had to hire a DEV to repair it to make it work properly after asking for assistance on discord over a span of a week....

Plus note after getting outside support it works it works good so for that 4 stars.

HeroChat is the one and ONLY chat plugin I have used for the past 8 years or so. It is incredible. Not the world's most powerful chat plugin (in terms of functionality I could care less for, like hover-over text in prefixes, etc), but it does what it says it should do very very well. I also personally LOVE the look of the chat when you use it. I've had other servers that I have fixed running VentureChat or something similar and they looked ugly (font style or something i swear), worked like crap, had all the "bells and whistles" that hardly ever functioned... and out of the 20+ servers I have worked on, I have ALWAYS replaced it with HeroChat (a new purchase every time). 100% worth the money, will ALWAYS stand the test of time. If it doesn't work for you on whatever Minecraft version you are running, you should probably read more into the config options. Our staff use their own chat, that players cannot see, and DiscordSRV still picks up all by itself even. I can not recommend this plugin more to anyone looking for a good chat plugin.

I had quite a lot of trouble with this plugin because of bugs in the channel formatting. This used to be one of the go-to chat plugins for servers, but I learned a hard lesson that there are free and better solutions to my problems that are not this plugin. I normally do not give reviews, but the negative attitude toward support by the author and the poor quality of the plugin prompted me to do so.

The author states that with an eight-year-old plugin, customers should not expect free lifetime support. While the author does not guarantee support for the plugin, the author still has a support thread and Discord listed even though people will not receive help there. The author tells the customers to do their research when they try to seek help.

The information stated above was not specified on the front page, which is dishonest. If the author does not want users to expect support for the plugin that they purchased, then the same snarky replies made to users when attempting to get support should be placed on the front page for everyone to bear witness. This would not be placed on the front page because, for good reason, people would not purchase the plugin. Bad practice is as bad practice goes.

A great plugin that has some flaws. When seeking out support via the supplied channels (#support under the Herochat Pro discord), support never came. 3 Weeks has gone by since the initial request of support.

Formatting and configuration changes do not seem to persist well. One instance that I specifically came across was the emote line formatting, which is the previously mentioned issue I was looking for support for.

Although seemingly pleasant on the purchasing page (here on spigot), Kainzo seems cold and unwilling to provide support or direction to the userbase of this plugin. I highly consider joining the Discord before purchasing to look over how he handles request for assistance. If you ever do get a response (unlikely) it is almost always met with a statement of "DYOR" (do your own research) or "Your mileage may vary"

I have always loved this plugin, a great addition to any server! Easy install, and set up.

I've reviewed this plugin on two other occasions with separate updates, telling you guys how I felt the plugin is. Herochat is, and most likely will always be my go to chat solution. But here lately, I feel like i'm not getting the functionality that I need and quite frankly deserve. I've been with herochat through thick and thin, our server has used this plugin for over 6 years. That's a long time honestly, if you think about it. The plugin is feature rich, efficient, clean, and so nice to have on a towny network like mine, BUT, the support you get with this plugin is mediocre at best, i've been trying for a month to get support on my bungee issue. The plugin claims to have bungee support natively, which is a blatant lie. I've tried linking my 4 servers in bungee for so long, and no success. I used to have a nice solution called Herochat Bukkit Bridge and Herochat Bungee Bridge, that our old developer Kool made, but alas, it has stopped working with a recent update to herochat pro.. sadly. Before then, herochat was the absolute best chat plugin, with small quirks like poor factions support, and I have to say that i'm disappointed. The 5 bucks that you pay for this plugin is *worth* it, if you can get passed, factions without the name in the chat, no bungee connection for cross server chat and poor support (where no one even responds to you at all).

(do not take this as me hating on the plugin, I love herochat with my dying breath. It is by far the best plugin i've ever used for chat and probably always will be...)

All around, I chose my rating as a 3 star for the current shape of the plugin, will change if i can at least get a decent support for once. I paid for the plugin after all, and offered to pay for an update. But for now, this plugin gets a solid 3 stars. Thanks for reading my review, bye.

I’ve been using Hero Chat for years and I can’t recommend it enough. Simple to setup with a lot of room for configuration. This should be a must buy for all server owners

Nice plugin which works perfectly in 1.14 ! Cross-server is awesome. Can't wait BungeeCord's integration also for private messages.

I want to just say a word of thanks to the author of this plugin, this plugin is amazing at controlling chaotic chat; Also, extremely simple to use, and ingame configuration (really worth the money, I bought it as well :P)

I want to rate this plugin higher, as I've been using Herochat on my server for seven years, but it has lost a central feature. /me commands remove spaces from whatever you type afterward, for some reason, and the author seems unwilling to fix it. "/me walks by" comes out as "Treijim walksby".

Contrary to what the author has advised, /minecraft:me is not a suitable alternative, because it doesn't use the formatting, prefixes, suffixes, or channels provided by Herochat, making it useless for radius-based-chat roleplay, for example.

I paid for the plugin and will continue use it, but I wish /me does what it's supposed to do.

I am very comfortable with this plugin. It does all, what I need, haven't found any bugs whatsoever, the chat works, permissions aswell....Simply good job there (Probably the first plugin i found that can turn suffix to message color lol :D

Been using this long before the premium release and I can attest that it works just as well as advertised. Any bad rating seem to be people who don't know how to configure the plugin properly or think it does something that it doesn't.

The free version of the plugin gave me no issues, used it from 1.5 to 1.8. Upgraded to 1.12 and now I have had nothing but constant issues with the plugin. The developers are slow to respond and have asked me to do things or provide explanations I've provided handfuls of times. I will update this review if/when the plugin actually functions as it is supposed to.
As of this review, I cannot use emotes--a basic function of the plugin that is advertised. I apologize if this review seems rude, but it's been two months and none of my issues have been fixed.
For a paid plugin, this is unacceptable. I just want a functioning chat plugin and would rather not switch to a different provider, but will if I can't have my issues fixed and addressed properly.

Maybe because after I bought it never used it. Because for me it was useless the features were listed not working.

I reviewed this plugin about 7 months ago, and I have to say that it has come a long way. With the new additions of antispam and bungee support, and me not getting any errors, this plugin is in pristine shape to be the best multichannel chat plugin on the market.

For the low price, variety of features, ability to customize it the way you want, placeholder support, etc, this is worth more than the $5 it is at the moment.

That being said, it doesn't fit the best in ALL categories. With the slow updates, and okay support, it could use some work in that department. (although I know that the author may have real life things to do, if you're going to sell something, it's kinda courtesy to keep up with you're stuff. )

That being said, other than the slow updates, the plugin is well maintained and feature packed. Props to the author.

Also, his other plugins.. like townships, AMAZING.

i got survival skyblock and creative 3 servers.

Developers listened closely to my problems I was having and rolled out 2 updates to fix them, haven't had a single problem since then. Been using Herochat since 2015 and I can't find myself switching until they stop updating.

Plugin works exactly as expected, no errors in console. Hooks into discordsrv! Hooray! Devs as active as can be, understanding that rl happens ;)

I found a Mistake in the message_de properties convo_afk = Ich bin zurzeit "AKF". I think its is AFK. I fix it myself but maybe you can to that for all here.

Herochat is an amazing chat plugin and I recommend it to any and all servers around the globe. The chat looks clean and not cluttered at all. It has multichannel support for donor chats, staff chats, help chats, etc. Herochat also keeps a nice and neat log of your chat so when someone claims something happened, just open it and search and boom, proof. The chat channels are extremely customizable as to which color you want, what name of the chat you want, etc.

Even though Herochat has some of the best features and does it amazingly well, Herochat has some flaws that could or could not be fixed in the future. What am I talking about? Well, at this time, Herochat doesn't carry chat throughout bungee servers, it's weird with factions (massive core has a problem with it, you need to config a line in massivecore to fix a double chat issue, but even then you can't have the name of the faction you're in on chat), and sometimes, the plugin can be a pain to install. I've had instances where I would be making a server and it would completely ignore that Herochat was installed.

Other than those issues, Herochat is the most perfect plugin anyone could ever ask for. I think it is well worth the 5 dollars you spend and I hope you think so too. Thanks for reading my review and have a wonderful day! :)

This plugin was used on an older server I used to play on all the time, and now that I have my own server it's great that it's still kept up to date. Love the work and the simple setup, keep it up!

Pros: none. I wasn't able to find one thing this premium version has in comparation with the old free one.

Cons: On the other hand, this premium version of Herochat is missing features that were in the previous free version. Such as colored logging to console, BungeeCord cross-server chats. Previous version could do cross-server chat, but this premium one just can't.

At the moment is this version useless for me and I kinda regred purchasing this. I hope the development cycle will be better than DayZ and I will have reason to give 5*

The plugin works well on 1.12. Have been using Herochat for over 2 years now, and it's still my preferred chat plugin. Glad to see that it's still being updated to be compatible with newer MC versions. It's definitely worth purchasing.

We're using this plugin since 2011, spending those few bucks to the original author makes perfect sense (though we never made any money out of minecraft ourselves). All we want from currrent plugins is compatibility and bugfixing, no new features. One Plugin I needed to update by myself because of deprecated methods and that's way more effort than spending a few Dollars. I just hope, that the code will be made public when support stops one day.

With the planend Features the Plugin whould gain great. But without them The Plugin is not worth any money. Because other free Plugin provide The same Features.

I have always used previous versions of this plugin and have never had an issue! When I saw this premium version I without hesitation purchased it. The chat system is user friendly and extremely easy to set up. For those of you who plan on running a successful server I strongly recommend getting this.
