Usage Guide (English)
How to Use DutyPl – Full Guide

1. Installation
  1. Download the compiled DutyPl.jar file from your build folder (or compile it using Maven).

  2. Place the DutyPl.jar file into your server’s plugins folder.

  3. Start or restart your Paper/Spigot server.

  4. After the first run, a config.yml file will be automatically generated in the plugins/DutyPl folder.
2. Configuration
Open the config.yml file to customize the plugin:

  • glow-color: Sets the glowing effect color for on-duty staff (default: YELLOW).

  • prefix: The prefix displayed before messages from the plugin (default: &6DutyPl >> ).

  • duty-suffix: The text added next to staff names in the scoreboard (default: &b&lDuty).
Example configuration:

glow-color: GREEN
prefix: "&6DutyPl >> "
duty-suffix: "&b&lStaff"

After editing the file, use /duty reload to apply the changes without restarting the server.

3. Commands
/duty – Toggle your duty status on or off.

  • If you are not on duty, it will enable glowing, add a suffix, and mark you as on duty.

  • If you are already on duty, it will remind you that you are already on duty.
/unduty – Force yourself off duty.

  • Removes glowing, removes the suffix, and clears your on-duty status.
/duty list – Display a list of all currently on-duty staff members.

/duty reload – Reload the configuration (config.yml) without restarting the server.

  • Permission required: duty.reload
/duty help – Show a detailed help menu with all commands and their descriptions.

4. Permissions
DutyPl supports permission-based access control:

  • duty.use – Permission to toggle duty status (/duty and /unduty).

  • duty.list – Permission to view the duty list (/duty list).

  • duty.reload – Permission to reload the configuration.

  • duty.help – Permission to view help menu.
Operators (OP) automatically bypass permission checks.

5. Notes & Best Practices
  • Ensure that your server version matches the Paper/Spigot API version in your pom.xml. For multi-version servers, you may need separate builds for each Minecraft version.

  • Use scoreboard and team management carefully if other plugins are modifying the main scoreboard. Conflicts may require adjustments.

  • Glowing effect color can be customized per your preference. Some colors may be harder to see depending on the server’s light level.
DutyPl simplifies staff management, improves visibility, and ensures that your moderators are easily recognized by players. It is perfect for roleplay, community, and public servers where clear staff identification is essential.
