The documentation is pretty lacking, and you're forced to join a discord server for basic support.
I'd recommend looking in the "corex" config file as many things aren't labelled clearly, so you may find the solution to an issue is disabling some features.

Great Plugin! I don't know why they are all crying. I only encountered one issue that has been fixed within 2-3 hours after I created the ticket in their support discord. They created a build just for me even though I didn't spend a single $ yet.

For those who do not know, this plugin is a fork of MassiveFactions, with modifications to make it work with modern Minecraft/Bukkit and also adding new features. MassiveFactions' license (GPL v3) forbids derivative plugins from being closed source. Despite this, the developer refuses to disclose the source code or even make people aware that the plugin is closed source (probably because he knows that it is illegal). I asked for the source code twice without a response and then upon creating a forum post, I was banned from the Discord.

If you don't care about support experience and you don't plan on making modifications to the code (or even having the ability to read it) then, by all means, use this plugin, it works. But if you have even the slightest need/want to make changes or fix bugs, use an alternative like FactionsUUID.

The developer claims that he is acting in accordance with GPL because the JAR file is “not obfuscated”. This is just wrong. Compiled code (i.e. class files which you’ll find in a JAR) is not the same as source code (.java files). Moreover. GPL specifically states that the source must include all files relating to the ability to compile the application, which the JAR does not.

Every response the developer gives on this topic proves that either he doesn’t understand that he’s breaking copyright law or that he’s just an incredibly indecent person and doesn’t care. Either way, don’t give him the satisfaction of downloading this plugin when 95% of it is stolen code.

Ignore the bad reviews.

First off, this plugin is amazing, anyone complaining about a decent free plugin should just stop talking. The creator spent his time into this and gives it away for free. There is a few bugs, such as f upgrades not working all the way, and when you have a 1.18.2 server to 1.19 it can kick you when exiting and entering a claim if you are on 1.19. Other than the few bugs this has I have ran into no lag, no cpu issues, and no major problems with this plugin, keep up the good work.

I will explain you why i give them one star.
i got the worst support ever. It take almost one day to talk with them. They answer you nothing really useful and nothing that can help you. They ignore bug report and suggestions. If you report them a bug they will say: put it into suggestions. What?! So i suggest them to have better support and staff that can interact with people. They aren’t able to fix their things. And now im going to talk abt the plugin… its pretty nice. Its useful but like i said if you find a annoying bug, then you will have to wait over year and year. So if you really want to fix their things, you will have to find a another plugin or re-code it yourself. I never seen a support service like that its completely stupid. So because of this i don’t recommend you the plugin and their discord. Have a good day.

The power system is very simple actually.
1 power = 1 claim. 1 claim = 1 chunk. 1 chunk = 16x256x16

You can only claim the amount of power you have. If you die in warzone/wilderness areas, you lose some of that power. If you have more claims then power from dying alot, you can be overclaimed (Another faction can claim your claims).

Honestly I am extremely upset. The developer of this project was exposed to be an extremely corrupt individual. I've done some research myself and found this plugin to be using stolen code! I've talked with a lot of other developers in the community and they all have a negative option on this developer. The plugin itself is poorly maintained if at all. There are a plethora of errors with very little support. They claim to have "faction duels" yet they will charge you for this feature which they promised. Many basic features are locked behind a paywall. Extremely upsetting.

Works but mobs don't spawn on my server whenever I add this plugin, I tried everything worldguard, clearlag, ... etc but hostile mobs only come back when I remove this plugin. I couldn't find anything in the config. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

So we added CoreX features into the factions plugin go into the factions folder you should see a corex folder click corex.yml and set Natural-Mob-Spawning to true :)

The plugin is very good but the stars drop at support time and rates, there's not enough staff member/support members within the discord. The response takes 12 hours+ and sometimes you get no reply. I was looking for help with spawners and spawner chunks and never got a reply after 2 days, basically staff need to be more active in channels and more staff potentially need to be hired, other than that great plugin keep up the good work!

In desperate need of documentation. It seems fine but one shouldn't have to join a Discord to be informed of the basics of a plugin. No admin commands as OP are functional, there's no information to be found on permissions, commands, designating admin powers (even though OPs should have it by default, because that's the entire purpose of OPs)... I dunno. Was hoping for a lot more.

Edit: Re-uploading review to respond to the dev explaining OPs don't have permission (despite any OP easily being able to use /f bypass anyway... okay?) as a protection against backdoors from leaked plugins. Well A) I pay for all my plugins so no leaked ones are making it on there, and B) I've already put multiple failsafes in my server of my own accord that prevents people who aren't meant to be OP from ever being OP or logging in without losing OP. So my point about extremely lacking documentation still stands, and as it is the plugin restricting OP access is at best a feature that disrupts the plugin's functionality on the off-chance the owner practices poor plugin security. Cool, I guess, but not for me.

Awful, please don't be deceived by the reviews. The setup is absolutely awful as you have to set up the perms yourself in game which sucks. In other factions you could just promote a player and they could build but for this you have to set up the perms just so your members can build. Also, despite there being a perm for other non faction players to not touch your stuff, they CAN OPEN YOUR CHESTS EVEN IF THEY'RE NOT IN YOUR FACTION. Also, mobs can spawn in your territory so enjoy that.

Lets me answer everything wrong with your own review lol

We have kits for faction permissions ex: factions.kits.fullplayer

If you're talking about f perms well that's how the player wants to setup their faction, every major and even minor factions server has this lol

As for opening chests in the claimed territory, this is also a feature that is enabled on a majority of factions servers.

If you would have joined the discord and asked a simple question we could have told you that all you needed to do was go to the conf.json, navigate to territoryBypassProtectedMaterials and remove CHEST and TRAPPED_CHEST.

Have a good day lol, might wanna read into the documentation of something before attempting to write something false.

amazing, I would REALLY love to see a wiki on how to do everything. For example, my essentialsX plugin takes care of the prefix/suffix in the chat, but I want the faction to be displayed too! I remove everything I mentioned above about the support of this plugin. The creator of this plugin has definitely fixed the error that occurred every time the server was closed manually (/stop from console).
I rewrote my problem in Discord and Driftay (Josh) fixed my problem in less than 10 minutes. I am totally grateful (:

I have always liked this Factions plugin and I really like that the support is good and that its creator is so kind.

Literally ruined my server because of the developer's decision to not test his updates before he releases them. Different people have reported the same problem and nothing is being done about it! The plugin works really well generally but the /f chest command doesn't work as well as /perms not letting players claim land. Basically, the permission system is kinda scuffed but apart from that it works really well.

Oh and one of the associated plugins: "SaberCoreX" adds a bunch of "fixes" to the game that completely ruins the game, just don't get it lol.

But overall, a good factions plugin and the support people on the discord are very helpful

Um, all feature is amazing in Faction, thats great. I think its the best Faction plugin so far.
But some flaws from some feature broke plugin a while. Starting from 1.15.2 MC.

I just hope Dev double check this, especially World Guard priority in config, Claim issue cannot use chest, and so on.

(F grace also makes unable to arrow but zombie can deal damage on player.)

This plugin has a very good support team and it has tons of features, although its still in beta it doesnt feel that way when its running on your server.

Because its still in beta you can expect some problems but when there is always someone that is willing to help you in their discord server. Bugs will get fixed pretty frequently so they are working hard to give server owners the best experience possible.

Their SaberCore is also a nice addition but its completely seperate from SaberFaction. :) And any feature requests are always welcome.

For a plugin in BETA, i would say 11/10

A Factions plugin that supports 1.13 and 1.14 is a rare thing on Spigot. Than I looked at the download button and it says free! This made me very happy so I wanted to add this to my bungeecord network.

I looked at the wiki on GitHub but I could not find a setup guide. At this moment I joined the Discord server and I asked some questions. They immediately answered and helped me out while being friendly! However, they should expand the wiki more in the future.

SaberFactions is adding new features often and fixes bugs very often which makes it good too. The unique and integrated features makes this plugin perfect apart from the standard features.

While running this plugin, there is little impact on the server peformance which tells me this plugin is coded very well by experienced developers or even experts!

All this led me to the conclusion this is a 5-star plugin. I would like to see more plugins from these developers.

For the people who say this is another "borrowed plugin" / fork, SavageFactions is a fork of FactionsUUID aswell. Driftay worked on SavageFactions with ProSavage and has the right to fork his own code/plugin. SaberFactions has lots of unique features which other forks don't. Also, this plugin is completely free. There's literally no reason to complain about it. I agree that some of the features might not be that necessary but seriously it's a great plugin and might have a few bugs there and now, but has a developer that is actually interested in helping and replies to bug reports. It's literally a free FactionsUUID with lots of features and good support! I would definitely recommend this.

Saberfactions is a well designed and high performance factions plugin forked from Savagefactions while also fixing a lot of issues savagefactions have had. Ultimately Saberfactions is a very professional and well maintained factions plugin and I actively use it on the server I work on and it has not failed me yet.

Most of the stuff added in this plugin are useless and the only ones that are needed are "borrowed" from factionsuuid/savagefactions. Disappointed, as I held great expectations for this one. sad

The point to your claim is completely irrelevant as SavageFactions is also a fork of FactionsUUID, and FactionsUUID is a fork of MassiveCraft.
