I've been using GM for years and have never had any problems with it. Another day I ask another plugin's DEV a help and the problem depended on the permissions management plugin. The guy simply told me to change my permissions plugin, instead of trying to help me. I think this is ridiculous! I use and will continue to use GM until the day it no longer exists. That simple! ♥

Still the worst permission plugin after PowerRanks. There are so many exploits and backdoors in this plugin, and I don't recommend anyone to use this plugin. Use luckperms instead, a lot of big servers running with it.

There isn't anything inherently wrong with GroupManager nowadays. There aren't any super glaring bugs or performance issues, and it does its job well. However the plugin is missing a lot of features which I have come to expect and use that simply make GroupManager a non viable permissions manager for me, and make me not recommend GroupManager over other plugins such as LuckPerms. The lack of a nice GUI or panel to manage or view permissions from can make it harder for new users to learn, visualizing permissions is also much more difficult. The lack of a verbose/logging system can make it difficult to pin point what permission is missing or what check is giving an incorrect result. And finally the lack of permission contexts drastically reduces the potential things you can easily do within the permissions plugin. There are many other smaller things I could say are missing or not as robust as I would personally like.

TLDR: If your looking for something super super simple, GroupManager will function without any hiccups, however, in my opinion there are better options I would look into (LuckPerms) especially for more complex projects/servers.

I have used this plugin since it was released, won't go to any other perm handler!

I've been using this plugin since 2014 when I started creating Minecraft servers. I don't think there is an easier to use plugin like this one. I would like to see that in future versions it supports hex colors.

Do not use this plugin it has massive issues with stability and corruption issues. Just go and get luckperms or pex. It's not database support lmao this plugin is just old and only people who have no experience would say it's good unless you are a developer yourself you cannot justify what is good and what isn't 100%. Take this from a server owner who actually have 600+ people on their server not these inexperienced people who defend a plugin just cause they are used to it not because it's actually good.

Sorry to leave a third review, but i have to point something out. Do not listen to the review below me. They constantly delete and re-do their review just so they can be on top, and to make things worse, its not even accurate. Even before 3.0, GM had very few performance issues, and the ones it did had were for things you weren't going to be using on a daily basis, so they weren't a big deal (most if not all are patched in 3.0). If they genuinely had a bad experience with GM, they wouldn't need to delete and re-do their review multiple times. Its pretty clear they're just toxic and don't care for proper use of the review section (to give genuine feedback for future users, not to fabricate information because you simply don't like it). Literally their only accurate gripe was the lack of database support, which has been added.

GroupManager is still one of, if not the best permission plugins out there, and I would highly recommend using it.

If you guys would like a good plugin with mature people i suggest you use luckperms, ultra perms or pex. These guys are a bunch of dumb immature kids, all cause i left a 1 star review before. Everyone just switch to luckperms. The fact that this plugin needed years to support sql just hinders that it is not maintained and nobody uses it anymore except for people with a small amount of players cause for a populated server it's gonna have issues with stability and processing. Also please look at 2 of my resources on my profile look how childish this developer is and gets their minion to leave a bad review just because he got hurt, how embarrassing. I've never seen any of the top permissions plugin developers do this. I suggest you start using luckperms it gets easy after like a week of using it and this plugin is under developed and isn't updated regularly anymore, but that's usually what happens when you have a slow and developer without a lot of knowledge let alone how long it takes to add sql to a plugin lmao. I was so used to this plugin but seeing what i missed out on with other permissions plugins, i disregard this plugin entirely now and know the difference between a genuinely good plugin and something that is complete trash. This plugin is complete trash as far as scalability, performance and resource usage. So when it comes to performance, i removed the ranks of everyone on the server and had 100 people try and do /reclaim with an external plugin try to reclaim their ranks with /reclaim at the same time when it came to luckperms it did it within milliseconds and with groupmanager that amount of load caused it to give like 13 people their ranks back and then groupmanager failed thanks to another developer of the lukcperms team for handing that idea out test it and he was right. So screw this dumb plugin with it's childish, slow and unknowledgeable developer and go use something like luckperms. LUCKPERMS also has a migrating system to transfer ranks and its users from groupmanager to the luckperms files. It also has a web editor too. Don't be keen on trying it, just do it and in a week or two you'll wanna be using it. It's not my plugin that caused it even the staff of luckperms and ultraperms stated it's your plugin lmao. The owners and staff of both luckperms and ultraperms stated that it's your plugin when i asked that is the issue the fact that it works just fine to reclaim ranks on luckperms and ultraperms and both owners didn't talk shit about each other the only thing they had in common as do the essentialsx team is that your plugin is outdated, slow, has a lot of issues and only should be used for small servers as it will have performance issues with large servers and use something updated like ultraperms and luckperms. Live with it your plugin is shit and that's just the end of the story. For anyone that thinks having a command shorter than another plugin's it doesn't account for the performance of the plugin. I'm the one that's mad??? lmaooo that's why you came on my spigot page trash talking my resources with your buddy cause you're childish. See if you did what i did to you to me i would just ignore it but you didn't i just wanna highlight how childish you are to people that's all and this is the reason why most plugins die.

I’m re-submitting my review to add some more detail to it, but to re-phrase, GroupManager is one of, if not the best permission plugin. One of the big pros over both PermissionsEX and LuckPerms is it doesn’t use constants in its commands. Like for example, adding a permission on LuckPerms is /lp add group (groupname) (permission). In GroupManager, you don’t need to use the stupid “group” beforehand, you just type the group name (/mangaddp (groupname) (permissions).

And for the complaints on performance, you’re definitely just using it wrong. The only time GM has any performance issues is when you misspell a name in a command, since it checks for spelling every single time you type a character rather than just when the command is sent (they really should fix that), but you aren’t going to come across that cause i doubt you’re changing data on a daily basis.

Would 100% use GroupManager. Can’t wait for version 3.0

The plugin itself works great and does what it is supposed to. The reason I am leaving a 1 star review is due to the sneaky fact that when you install the plugin it gives moderator perms to the developer(s) and I assume their buddies. I find this to be dishonest since there is no warning or disclaimer about it. If you have this installed on your server and they join they will be able to fly, give themselves creative, and more.

Works fantastically on 1.17.1. Still hands down the most intuitive and straightforward permissions plugin. Surprisingly flexible for how easy it is to use.

Please, do NOT ever use this plugin. It has hidden character names inside it, that gives permissions, and even backdoors. I'm surprised this is still under deelopment.

Sometimes my players got a warning like " you dont have permission for that " but when i do /manload that fixes the problem.

Man it sucks that people give bad reviews because they don't know how to use GroupManager. This plugin is still fantastic and is the only permission plugin that you can drop into your server and have just work out of the box. Love this plugin and have for years, highly recommended.

P.S. - Don't leave bad reviews on Spigot just because you don't know/understand what you're doing!

It's an okay plugin, has some issues, support from other plugins is going away as well. I recommend using LP but this plugin does work. I've had issues with it forgetting players ranks, one time it even cleared someones inventory after I added permissions to the user. Vault and Tab sometimes throw an error because of it. Overall I don't see a future for this plugin. I like that it's simple and nostalgic but I don't see any reason to use it over other permissions plugins.

i am confused , why does group stored per world ? how do i setup global group that can be used on any world/ auto generated world ? some world is auto generated by plugin by command . I already try modifying globalgroups.yml but it seems like i only can edit permission node and not to create group to give to user . help pleasee

There really is a problem with prefixes not appearing, I had to /manload. Idk what triggers it tho. Prob bcuz when I edit the user.yml while server is running. Using GroupManager from https://wiki.ess3.net/wiki/Downloads now.

Very bad. I am running the old version from Bukkit. Everything works fine. I am updating to this version and everything is broken. I am joining the Hub and in every world I have still the hub rank with its permissions. Sad to say, but this is cancer.

Latest update compleatly broke "all_unnamed_worlds" in config mirrors section. Every time a world gets loaded, it creates a folder with that world name and compleatly breaks everything

Ive tried alternatives like LuckPerms pEx etc, GM always has your back and is always stable! Consistency amongst the devs! The support is also very informative with fast replies! I was wondering if you had any plan to make a GUI for this plugin? I used this plugin for many many years even after it went unsupported for a while and recently started up a new server and started with luckperms, just noticed this was back and updated so was curious if a GUI was planned for the future because I did find an amazing plugin not by luckperms but works in conjunction with to modify it using a gui. If there is one out there and /or you do plan to make one, I may drop luckperms for this one. Because I love the setup and everything. It's so smooth! :D

Still use it on my server after years and years and years.. Maybe new features could be added to be more inline with other perm plugins, have considered switching over to luckyperms many times but so deeply setup server maps/groups with groupmanager it is hard to switch, mysql support would good.

Using this plugin since 2013/2014 and yet it's the best permissions plugin I have ever used! Very easy and super configurable with 0% bugs. This plugin is a little bit frustrating compared to the Luckperms system, but overall, I'm very satisfied. Luckperms was breaking my server, and this plugin really saved me. Keep up the good work.

Good base permission Plugin for very small Servers due to the easy Setup...but the lack of certain features, the bugs and the fact that there is just no Support at all makes LuckPerms the way better choice...

Please bring time setting feature for groups. And I try to install and use this plugin on my 1.15.2 server, but the commands are not complete even if the players have the authority. I am not experiencing this error in any other authority plugin.

Plugin awasome. Latest version not.
Latest version was made with Java version higher than Java 8, so servers with Java 8 won't be able to run this plugin. Could you maybe remake this plugin with java 8?

Excellent plugin, have always been using it and is still frequently updated and is used across multiple servers.

Good until it corrupted my whole server. I restarted normally, when it wouldn't start again. Had to debug the whole server, and it turned out the plugin had corrupted itself, the server jar, all the worlds and vault. I don't recommend it for servers running for longer times, without anyone looking over it, or big networks. Use luckperms for that please. Smaller servers/private servers that only run when you use it, still shouldn't use groupmanager, unless you are running older versions.

Please don't take this as an "attack", since im giving feedback with my experiences. Overall i would say it's a really good plugin, but is lacking many features that LP has, and has too many bugs at the time. The years i've used gm, it was working fine, but this issue kinda forced me to switch.

TL;DR: I recommend for smaller/private servers, but not for big servers/servers running 24/7.

I've saved everything, yet when I reloaded the server I lost everything. Zero log report for errors. Only thing showing in console is [Server thread/WARN]: GroupManager - SEVERE - There are errors in your config.yml. Using default settings

I have vault, essentialsx(ex?).

Nothing saves. No support, nor mention of where you can find support elsewhere. When you lose your work from an entire day thats when something stops being worth it.

It works very well, just Enjin plugin claims its out of date and says there is no UUID support
