This still works on 1.20.4 and I think it's incredible.
It's use of particles to generate the image is facinating. You lose video clarity, there is some flickering, and you'll see some client-side lag getting close to it, but my low-spec server is able to seamlessly run a meme video at spawn for my friends to laugh at. I found myself staring at the pixels up-close in awe like a child by the tv set.

The plugin functions as it should but there's a few issues I have with it. It's not very practical. It lags the client a lot and because its playing with particles you can see the refresh of the display. It also has a tendency to lag the server as well as having to play with a specific fps and resolution. I like the idea but it would be a thousand times better if it was a lot less resource intensive
Unfortunately the plugin is as less resource consuming as it can be. Spawning particles is laggy because it's something that stores 4 values and has to be sent to each player individually. At 160x90 10 fps, the server has to send 144000 particles each second to every player, so most of the lag is actually due to the server's isp.
If you have trouble with lag, I suggest you try something like 80% the resolution. Worked like a charm for me.
