How to use
- Choose a point in Minecraft to be used as your starting point. This point will be used to calculate other points.
- Save the X/Z coordinates of your starting point using the "/point create" command. Be sure to name it something memorable!
- Ex. /point create Hub 0 0
- Note: If you plan on outlining at a scale other than 1:1, you must specify it when creating the start point. Ex. /point create Hub 0 0 1.5 -- where 1.5 is the scale
- Use the /point sety command to set the y value to be used when plotting points.
- Ex. /point sety 50 - points will be plotted with a y value of 50.
- Note: This setting is not persistent and will only be used for your current outline session.
- Use the /point material command to set the material to be used for plotting points.
- Ex. /point material white_wool - points will be plotted with using the material white_wool.
- Note: This setting is not persistent and will only be used for your current outline session.
- Open Google Earth Pro and head over to the location you wish to outline.
- Click on the ruler tool in the top menu bar.
- In the dialog box, set the measurement unit to meters.
- Find the real life location of your starting point, and click to use that as the first point on the ruler.
- Leaving the first dot, move the mouse to a spot of where you want to get the point of (ex. corner of building) and click.
- After the second point is set, you can click and drag to change the location of the second point.
- For better accuracy, try to use the edge of a structure as the point when measuring
- Look at the measurement box and take down the values of the "Map Length" and "Heading". Copy these values into Minecraft to use with the "point" command.
- Ex. /point plot Hub 18.25 100.88
- Run the command. The plugin will then compute the X/Z coordinates of the location in your Minecraft world that correspond to the real life location of your measure point in Google Earth. A block will be placed at the y height & material we specified earlier.
- Once you have multiple points, you can connect them with WorldEdit's //line tool or the /point connect command.
- That's it. You've just plotted your first point with PointLocator!
