Lumen – Advanced Lighting for Minecraft

Lumen is a Minecraft plugin designed to enhance server quality of life by optimizing lighting. It allows efficient area illumination using commands or unique item torches:
  • Lumen Torch – Automatically lights up the surroundings with custom light level.
  • Lumen Guard – Prevents hostile mobs from spawning.

For Players
  • Right-click the air with a Lumen Torch to set its light level (0–15).
  • Light level is saved and used when placed.
  • Lumen Guard prevents mob spawning in its area.
  • Torches are recoverable and their effect is removed upon breaking.
  • Crafting requires lumen.craft.torch and lumen.craft.guard permissions.

▶︎ Installation Guide

Prerequisites:
  • Minecraft: PaperMC 1.21+ (Recommended: Last stable)
  • Java: 21+
  • Optional: CoreProtect, FAWE

Step 1 – Download
Get Lumen from Modrinth.

Step 2 – Install
  1. Upload Lumen.jar to plugins/.
  2. Restart the server.
  3. Check the console for success message.

Step 3 – Configure
  • Edit settings in plugins/Lumen/config.yml:
    • command_lights_per_tick
    • torch_lights_per_tick
    • torch_tick_interval
    • mob_torch_radius
  • Verify CoreProtect or FAWE integration on startup.

▶︎ Troubleshooting

Issue Quick Fix
Plugin won’t load Use Paper 1.21+ & Java 21
Bad performance Adjust light performance settings if needed or use FAWE integration
Crops or saplings not growing? Remove and replace the Lumen Torch once it has grown or remove the lights before if you used commands.
